That's an oxymoron.

I'm sure someone from.... checking notes.... SLOVAKIA, is totally qualified to speak about what a world leader from a different country, on a different continent is doing

Is normal the europeans are more angry than unusual with Trump after the negotiation with Ursula Von Der Leyen.

The arrogance of Americans never ceases to amaze me. But you've already made a spectacle of yourself many times over many things.

Another European decides to chime in, as if they don't have enough problems with fake asylum seekers destroying their cities, he thinks he know anything about America, hey compagno, no one asked you for your opinion, capire?

What a great achievement indeed to have transformed all of the United States' greatest allies since the end of World War II into enemies in less than six months...

It's the spirit of sport: "As long as I convince myself that I'm the best, it doesn't matter how or what happens to others."

America first, that's how it needs to be, Europe making their bed right now being a third world shithole, accepting muslim refugees instead of kicking them back, so you are welcome, we don't need to help, you're also welcome to make palestine country in francestan, won't be much different then it is right now, but don't expect us to bank roll you anymore

And here's my real fear: holding the Olympic Games in a country led by someone who would have no problem claiming to be the best while banning their opponent from coming (and inhabited by a certain number of people who voted for him with the same intent)...

A sort of remake of Moscow 1980, but with the USA playing the role of the USSR...

I'd like to know how the IOC would react to visa bans targeting certain countries (one could argue that there's no chance of that, but I never thought I'd see the USA threaten to invade two of its neighbors either).

No visas will be banned, even the iranian will be allowed in, so you can take your fear mongering, we will win most medals because we are just the best (overall), not because someone will not be permitted to come

Ah, yes, I had forgotten the other essential values of sport: humility and respect for opponents.

    • Yes, she was unlucky, but it could just as easily have happened during some training, like with Gut, etc. Brignone has been essentially injury-free throughout her long career, which is very rare in this sport. It's unfortunate that this happened after her best season ever and just 1 year before the Olympic Games in home, when she just missing of win the Olympic gold medal in her great career. With the gold in Cortina, she would have become a legend of Italian skiing, on par with Tomba. Now she's still the best Italian woman in history, but the lack of Olympic gold will likely haunt her for the rest of her life.
    • It sad to see this season, as I remember, that Fede last year was winning everywhere, when she competed and finished and now we haven't even managed a single podium in the giant slalom, and it'll probably stay that way until the end of the season. Without Fede and Bassino, unfortunately, we're out of good cards in this event. For me Goggia should probably skip the giant slalom at all, becouse she has no chance of a podium and she risks further injuries. If even Goggia finish 8th or 10th? What difference does it make? If she couldn't get a podium finish today with so many DNFs at the top skiers, she probably never do. Della Mea is OK this year, but let's be honest, she's not World Cup podium material. Overall, it's a sad picture, and we have a 0% chance of anything in Cortina unless a miracle happens in Brignone return.   We have two chances for Goggia in DH and SG + maybe a dark horse in Pirovano/Curtoni in SG. That's all. In technical events, we have a 0% chance of medaling, and that's sad. Our federation also lost Colturi in this situation... In any normal country, the head of such a federation should be dismissed for disciplinary reasons and this case should be investigated by the minister, or even the prime minister, but not in Italy...
    • Mikaela Shiffrin  off the podium today (Edit: Oops...I thought this was slalom, not Giant Slalom.).  Nina Astner  entered the 2nd run in 30th place, but had the best second run, jumping up 18 places to 12th.
