This is somehow a good news, which means he won't be the last athlete in the ranking and Farzan won't face him in the first round. still it's dangerous which means this guy can get good results in Rio and advances to further rounds ! Farzan most probably will face the Thai guy in the first round

How do you see Kimia Alizadeh's chances for gold? I know she's a huge talent, but it's impossible for me to say what kind of chances she has.. (asking because I just saw the first bookmaker betting odds for the taekwondo events)

She has chance for medal, even Gold, she already beat both Jones and Calvo, she won one of Grand Prix events but she is still too young and winning Iran's first ever medal at the Olympics put a lot of pressure on her shoulder. beside that from what I noticed she gasses easily after few matches.

by my calculations, she will face either Hamada (JPN) and the host nation girl and the other one in quarterfinal, I will be happy with a bronze and expect a bronze for her, Gold is too much to ask,

Mohamed Ketbi (BEL) is having huge troubles for months already to stay under the 58kg limit. Apparently he's growing quite a lot (he's still young) and it's causing more and more problems. Didn't have a fight in his weight class since December and it looks like it's a very realistic option that he won't be going to Rio. Salaheddine Bensaleh seems to be in sight as a possible replacement..

Or maybe he should eat less candy. :p

This guy from Iran Beigi is too strong for other European competitors. He has good chance for medal in Rio.

His chance is more than good ! :d Actually I consider him the second (or even maybe the number 1) favorite for the gold in Rio. he is just destroying everybody, he was in much better shape than Khodabakhshi in past few months but still we have 2-3 months left and I expect our guy to peak at the right time. I just hope Iranian coaches know few tricks about how to beat him , btw on other hand his coach is also Iranian (former coach of Iran NT) which makes things even !

also I have to name this CIV guy Cisse, he is as dangerous as Beigi. actually Iranian coaches are very concerned about him.

    • I hope she can do well, but I think she's not going to win any gold, as she's never been comfortable both with the shooting range and the altitude in Anterselva   I fear biathlon is going to be one of the biggest flops for us next year (the other disaster will come from the sliding sports, I'm pretty sure...rather, hopeless)   I think our medal table will heavily depend on the speedskating sports, on the big air events and on alpine snowboard, any other discipline's contribution is going to be marginal
    • Great to see luge being back underway, but annoying that the graphics aren't really working properly yet     They're showing the time gaps at all the splits, as per usual, but then at the finish there is only the actual time, and no time gaps, resulting in all the time having to mentally calculate the difference to see if someone gained or lost time in the last part.

    • Yeah, that is quite a surprise overall. Our women's handball has regressed since the 2010s. Or maybe Spanish women's handball isn't as good as I thought.
    • / Ilke Wyludda (discus) passed away at the age of 55.
    • Poland defeat Spain 26 - 23 and did qualified to next round
    • Watched the mass start on Sunday & it just didn't work.  Runners starting from the fourth or fifth row back (ie everyone in places 20-70) were losing time through no fault of their own - just not enough room on the piste for 70+ starters.  So OK for an experiment, but not for real meaningful competition.
    • Tournament to crown the inaugural Women's United States Champion:   SmackDown - November 15th Bayley def. B-Fab and Candice LeRae   SmackDown - November 22nd Chelsea Green def. Blair Davenport and Bianca Belair   SmackDown - November 29th Michin def. Piper Niven and Lash Legend   Still to come: SmackDown - December 6th Naomi vs. Tiffany Stratton vs. Elektra Lopez   SmackDown - December 13th Semi-Finals: Bayley vs. Chelsea Green   Michin vs. TBA   The Final Match of the tournament will take place on "Saturday Night's Main Event" PLE (Premium Live Event) on December 14th.
    • Yeah that mirror thing was so weird. You literally need a maximum of two safety car laps (possibly just 1) to take away that 1 piece of stuff....but wait until someone unavoidably shatters it into 1000 little pieces     Intentionally or not, there is no way it was NOT going to happen at some point...
