I would imagine the FIL will get the green light from the IOC for this.

Women’s doubles seems pretty inevitable. Natural track less so, but if it ever gets included it will be now.

It was already know.

Roda some months ago say that alpine skiing will ask for an inclusion too.

Italian NOC will do a strong pressing about this

The one thing that natural track has going for it is that it is much more accessible to a wider range of countries than artificial track is. Obviously, natural track is still dominated by mostly the same countries as artificial track, but I think there’s the potential for other countries to become competitive. I think it’s much cheaper to build a natural track as well, though it does pretty much require a good amount of natural snow.

They better rather expand the Ice Hockey tournament, having only 12 teams in the WOG main lead sport is pretty embarassing to be honest

Excuse me :yikes: How dare you insult our dear lord and savior, Biathlon. :p

I think we have to get to 12 women’s teams before we can talk about expansion of the men’s tournament. Plus, the IOC is looking to cut quotas from the Winter Olympics as well. We had some steep cuts from Pyeongchang to Beijing.

Biathlon is great and fun and everything for sure, but on a global scale, the attention is not equal to the popularity of hockey. Hockey is by far the most watched and followed winter olympic sport on a global scale, whether you like it or not. it can perhaps only be compared to maybe figure skating. Biathlon is super popular only in a couple of european countries, just like alpine skiing or nordic skiing

16 teams M ice hockey tournament must be a priority for IIHF, but yeah, will not happen

Problem with including natural track is that they are asking for potentially four extra medals,  which I don’t see the IOC accepting at all.  It’s the equivalent of a whole new sport.

Just because we strayed onto this topic a little, here’s a fascinating map put together by Google based on YouTube streaming trends the year leading up to Pyeongchang 2018.

    • Personally, I'm really looking forward to Japan's performance in the World Cup. From the current situation, Japan has a very distinctive playing style. They have strong tactical ideas whether facing European teams or South American teams. However, Japan has never won a knockout match in the World Cup. As someone who has been following Asian football for a long time, I really admire Japanese football.
    • Italy didn't qualify again.    Well, now all that's left is for Germany to be eliminated again in the group stage and we'll guarantee another 4 years of "Brazil, the only five-time champion in history, nobody is bigger than Brazil, respect our history and blah blah" that we use on the internet.
    • Failing to qualify for the World Cup once can be put down to bad luck or other reasons, but missing out three times in a row must be due to an all-round gap. I feel sorry for Italy.
    • Italians can only blame themselves. Serie A has been run by foreigners more than any other Top 5 domestic league. There are zero global stars not named Donnarumma. This is the weakest Italian crop of players I can remember and it's not even close.   As for Poland, our defense did a terrible job. Unlike the much-maligned Michniewicz & Probierz who often parked the bus, Urban completely run out of BS luck since errors proved too numerous & too costly.
    • Okay, but defeats to Macedonia and Bosnia are unacceptable. Above all, let Italians start playing in Italian clubs... Look at Milan or Como...  Another think is the old and ugly stadiums - Türkiye or Poland currently have much better infrastructure than we do.
    • Problem is, that the current funding system of Italian sports - since 2018- relies on football paying the lion's share through taxes (around 70% of the sum that is redistributed). So the rest is strong until it can draw money from football, which in turn makes football weaker and less able to generate money and then who knows.
    • I prefer our current strong sport at all and weak football than a lucky promotion and defeat at the World Cup, as in 2010 or 2014. Sinner, Brignone, or Antonelli are worth 100 times more than losers like Bastoni.
    • if tonight's humiliation means 20+ gold and 50+ total medals in 2 years time in LA, I'll take it 1 billion times    and I'd never change the emotions of the 2 Olympic weeks in Milan (and the other sites) with just another average soccer world cup
    • Strong teams advance from the groups, especially since there are now 48 teams playing at the World Cup, not 32. It's Italy's fault that they lost 0-3 and 1-4 to Norway.
    • What's more, the match was started brilliantly today. Bastoni was a complete disaster. What's more, Bosnia must have had 30 shots on goal. They're simply the worst Italy team ever – worse than Norway, Turkey, or Bosnia.
