Swimming Qualification for Summer Olympic Games 2016

I guess it's not that shocking Lochte had a bad 400m IM, he just recently came back to that event after a long layoff. Kalisz will be a solid medal threat.

but I guess this time the US guys won't have many chances to win the Gold medal (which they have always won since the end of the great Tamas Darnyi's reign)...

Hagino looks well beyond the reach of Kalisz (not to mention Litherland, who is just on the line to make the final and nothing more)...

encouraging from an Italian perspective also the "high" 3.43 by Conor Jaeger in the men's 400m Free...

at the moment, Gabriele Detti looks stronger (on Friday he swam 3.44.2 just down from a hard training period in altitude)...

Well the fact that he just came down from altitude doesn't make his performance more impressive :p

I mean, when coming down from high altitude to normal altitude, that's when they're at their best..

Which is not to say his time isn't impressive by the way, because 3:44 in a period where everything is focussed on training is still damn good!

Apparently Lochte had a groin injury (though it could be an after-race excuse).

It's funny to see Phelps' 400 IM in London described as a disaster.  He finished 4th, a third of a second off the podium. In Canada he would have received a parade for that performance :d.  It must be really boring being American watching the Olympics, seeing your people win so many medals in everything must numb the excitement.

Now let's be fair, Phelps is an absolute legend who was winning nearly every event he focussed on, so yes, finishing 4th in the 400m IM was not exactly a good result for him ;)

He finished 4th, how much value do you think a 4th place has for someone who needs a warehouse just to hold his Olympic medals?

Lol not at all.  Im happy for each one.  I think only one I'm numb to is Simone Biles.  Shes amazing but shes a machine.

Also americans are not people who follow those sports too much outside od olymlic years like us. So for a lot of people it will be the first time seeing her

52.12 and 52.28 for Plummer and Murphy in the 100m backstroke semi's, most impressive results of the day at the US trials

Although Ledecky's 3:58.98 isn't bad at all neither :d

Franklin seems to be in horrible shape and barely made the final on the 100 back..

    • By the way. It looks like no AIN`s will be in biathlon by the start of the Olympics. Russians filed an appeal to CAS to get AIN statuses in biathlon. But IBU did not agree to have hearings with short procedure. So the decisons are not expected before the end of qulifying period. (FIS could do the same but its top-officials prefer to help russians be back as quick as possible).   I would like to see Dolidovich at the Games. Because she is a real refugee of the relatively high level.

    • It’s honestly baffling how bad she was in 2018. Just absolutely lost her head. Real shame too because she is so gifted. I do hope Li Jianrou sends her a Christmas card every year tho, she was absolutely gifted a gold medal by Christie in 2014.
