I would say it highly depends on the traditions of some disciplines in certain countries.

Our national sport TV boradcated Aerials live last season. Czech Reuplic has it in the prime-time of its national sports channel as far as I know. Yes Valenta won his gold more then 20 years ago but it does not matter.

not anymore...

now Czech TV shows mainly alpine SB because of Ledecka and now also the young rising star Maderova ;)

On the other hand, why bother with snowboardcross, which only has 1 or 2 World Cup appearances in a single season before OG, due to a lack of sufficient route? For me, it's also a dead sport, just like Nordic combined has been for some time now, with many World Cup races being canceled. For today, I would prefer team competitions in alpine snowboarding to snowboardcross, if only because in this first there are regular World Cup competitions every 1-2 weeks, and not 1-2 for the entire season.

First of all in: Big Air, Slopestyle etc. are disciplines where judges decide the results 100% and this is bad. The average person, when they turn it on during the Olympics, has no idea why someone is 1st or 3rd, but when he turn on alpine snowboarding, he see who finished 1st and who 2nd.

It is true that it is/was in prime time. But the only reason was that there was not anything else for which czech TV has bought TV rights.

Currently they have for all winter sports.

But i think nobody watch the aerials in nowadays.

Valenta jumped it 24 years ago and there Is not any "significant" progress in this sport. At least i think it. And i watch many sports :-)

better now than at the Olympics...

Bansko confirms itself as the worst track for our specialists, who just won once in PSL and never in PGS

    • Some notable  retirements:   Elisavet Pesiridou (athletics - 100m hurdles) - She announced her retirement on her 34th birthday. She competed in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. She narrowly missed Paris 2024 despite being in good form, the rest of he field seemed to get stronger and her ranking was a bit lower even though she was quite consistent. She struggled with injuries in 2025.   Fani Tzeli (taekwondo) - She was 7th in Tokyo 2020 but didn't qualify for Paris 2024. Still, she is only 24 yo and seemed to be rising up again after winning bronze at the European Championships so it is a bit surprising.   Aikaterini Divari (sailing) - She competed in Tokyo 2020 but didn't qualify for Paris 2024. Only 25 yo.   AJ Ginnis (alpine skiing) - Despite winning a silver at the World Championships he never got to compete at the Winter Olympics as he was always unfortunately injured. A shame as he is by far our best winter athlete ever. Only 31 yo, and I have a feeling he might come back in 2030 based on his last interview...

    • Well.  Having gotten it a bit at a distance a few comments about my experiences   Travel: Very happy. Flying to and from was a breeze (the plane home slighty delayed). The same can be said about getting around in Milano. Getting around outside was of course slightly harder, especially with some delays back from Antholx (but i guess that's not a big surprise when a lot of people leave a place in the mountains)   Atmosphere: Very happy around the venues, but it's also very clear that it's smaller than the Summer games. People weren't following the events wherever you went. Alcohol certainly made a difference between Paris and now. Sadly did experience a few who should certainly have stopped a couple of beers earlier.    The logistics at the venues:  Very easy to see that Santagiulia is new and absolutely not a perfect venue. Seems like some kinks were fixed when I got there, but there's still stuff to work out. The food at the Milano venues were meh and there were quite some lines. Tesero was a chaos when it came to getting food, but the quality was slightly better at the skiing venues.
