The BBC commentators said 50 times it was confirmed.

And where did the BBC commentator get that information from?

I’m not sure but Ed Leigh is long established and is in Livigno. Constant mentions of it being the last one but no mention of any campaign to save it.

It's a damn shame if the slalom events are removed as it offers something different from other winter olympics sports, but is the discipline developing anywhere ? In France, alpine snowboarding is basally dead with only kids doing it learning some skills for other disciplines. I wonder how it is in other countries ?

in Italy is still the basic discipline and I think that also in many Eastern European Countries the activity is quite lively, given the best youngsters on the tiur come from places like CZE, BUL, even POL

and I see also many guys from AUT and GER at the races of the categories below the world cup

Looking at the powerhouse park and pipe (big air, halfpipe etc) nations some like CAN and JPN have 1 or 2 athletes. But you look at their park and pipe teams they are full rosters, the other countries USA, Nordic nations, NZL and AUS virtually have no one in alpine snowboarding but again park and pipe dominate their teams. Those nations I speak of very much associate snowboarding with park and pipe. It's a shame because I rather enjoyed the PGS event it was quite nerve-wracking.

In North America alpine skiing is sadly not popular at all, and a lot of snowboarders are outright hostile towards it :(
