Swimming Discussion | Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 Road to LA 2028

Recommended Posts

I'm sure at this point, people are sick of me talking about Summer McIntosh. However, she did break her 3rd record of the meet tonight. This time, she rebroke her 400 IM World Record for the 3rd straight Canadian Trials finishing in a time of 4:23.65.

Yesterday, she came close to breaking the crazy super-suited 200m butterfly World Record finishing with the 2nd fastest time in history in a time of 2:02.26.

Some fireworks from Japan this weekend.

2009 born Shin Ohashi put up times of 59.03 and 2:07.27 in the 100m and 200m breaststroke events. The 200m breaststroke time is a World Junior Record.

His 100m breaststroke time ranks 4th in the world this year and the 200m breaststroke time ranks 2nd in the world this year. However, he won't be going to World Championships because two swimmers were faster than him in both events at Japanese Trials back in March.

Italian record for Ludovico Viberti in the morning at Sette Colli! 26.27 in the 50 breaststroke, first in the world this season.

Unfortunately, the two places in the 50 breaststroke have both already been awarded at the Italian championships in March and Viberti, barring a twist of fate, will not participate in the world championships in the 50

And who will start? Nicolo and Cerasuolo? In my opinion, they should include him in this 2 and let them eliminate each other in the heats. It's the post-Olympic season, so it doesn't matter. If Viberti starts in the 100 meters anyway, that's the best way. Especially since Cerasuolo, in my opinion, can't afford a result like Viberti's today.

Yes, they both made the time limit in March so they have priority

New PB for David Popovici in 100m free at U23 Euros - 46.71. He now holds the best times of the season in both 100 and 200 free and looks to be vying for his second 100-200 free double Worlds Gold in Singapore.

I really hope that Penny Oleksiak didn't use PS as she's under investigation and won't compete at WCh.

:RSA Pieter Coetze with a 51.99 100m backstroke swim at WUGs today! #1 time in the world. Will be interesting to see if he can maintain this form in a week at World Championships

Two World Junior Records from Japan this weekend.

Shin Ohashi went 2:06.91 in the 200m breaststroke :yikes:. #1 time in the world this year. Still just 16 years old. Would've been a medal contender if he qualified for the Japanese World Championship team.

Yumeki Kojima broke the WJR in the 400 IM going 4:09.38.

58.94 in the 100, another WJR

    • I don't know if anybody but me cares about this, but this article about Santa Monica ( a snotty beach community near LA) really peeved.     https://www.smdp.com/as-los-angeles-looks-to-2028-santa-monica-positions-itself-as-a-global-stage-for-sport-storytelling-and-community-impact/   It's all about how Santa Monica is going to be such a leading force for the games:   “Santa Monica is not just showing up for 2028,” James said. “We are shaping the experience. From our coastline to our infrastructure, we offer a globally recognized stage with the ability to deliver authentic, well-executed experiences that benefit both visitors and our local community. Our focus is translating global interest into meaningful, well-managed experiences that means thinking not just about visibility, but about legacy.”   Well, Santa Monica can just fuck all the way off.  Besides the vaporous word salad in the quote, they were asked to host the Beach Volleyball tournament, but refused, saying (literally) that they should just free ride on all the other places that are hosting events and just reap the rewards of the increased tourism.
    • there were lots of talks about it, AWF once again pushed for this idea but looks like OCA rejected it once and for all. which is good.    only total medals will be awarded in this sport as it should be    https://oca.asia/media/attachments/memberships_subcommittee/5/Decisions_109_EB_Meeting.pdf
