By the way, who would you prefer: one Duplantis or 3x Fabbri or Battocletti?

Definitely the 3x Fabbri or Battocletti, since I'd much rather see my favourite country being strong in a variety of events than having one single superstar.

Which is not in any way negative towards Duplantis, obviously, but if these are the two options, that's the choice I'd make :p

actually, they want to set it at 0.080 :yikes::p:facepalm:

That's at least better than 0.1, since yes, there are people who can react faster than that.

I'm still in favour of the most honest system though: if you do not leave before the gun goes, your start is valid, no matter if it's 1 second after the gun or 0,001 seconds after the gun - after the gun is after the gun. And yes, people are going to take extra risks then, that's up to them.

I don't know if it's already been written here or elsewhere (don't want to search for it through hundreds of forum pages)

a few days ago World Athletics made it official: the mixed 4*100m relay from now until at least Los Angeles (2028) included will be run with the format M/W/M/W, just like the mixed 4*400m

so, there will be 2 very complicated male-to-female exchanges instead of 1 (if they held the initial format M/M/W/W or viceversa)

Yeah, for the 4x100m it's more of a problem to have it like this. I also don't really mind what exactly the order is, as long as it's a fixed one in which everyone has the same. I also like what I believe they have in biathlon: one week it's MMWW, the next week it's WWMM, so it's not like countries with a superbly finishing man or woman always have an advantage (which is of course more relevant in biathlon than in a 4x400, but still, it's also just fair to give both men and women chances to finish the race and have a shot at that big final 'glory').

I prefer Dutch model for speed skating: big stars + many other strong skaters:lol:

If you think Nadal, Alcaraz or Pogacar are clean, then congratulations on your naivety, but this is not the topic for such a discussion.

I’m not saying Sinner is, but they are though.

Some funny Croatian user is simply coming here with such texts, so I had to respond. Let him focus on his country and its great athletes, who can be counted on the fingers of one hand in all summer and winter sports combined:lol:

They have the .1 FS system in Speed Climbing as well.  With that, it's not a random start.  They have the 3-2-1 beeps, so they know exactly when to go...except they have to time their response to some (arbitrary) 0.1 sec *after* the last beep.  Let's set it at the beep.

Today probably don`t enough excitement with Italy's participation? On paper, Iapichino should have won the medal today, but it is what it is :(

    • Hey guys, I contribute Skeleton articles for a new winter-sports focused website called "All things Snow".   I was wondering if any of you could please spare a few moments to read my latest article on the World Cup finale in Altenberg a few weeks ago.   Any feedback on length, content, or just general tips will be greatly appreciated. I'll be sure to implement them in my Olympic Skeleton recap pieces. Thanks!   https://allthingssnow.net/2026/01/19/pfeifer-and-wyatt-win-the-finale-meylemans-and-weston-seal-crystal-globes/

    • changes that go absolutely against the Italians (notoriously the top swimmers and not the best shooters in MP) 😭😭😭   now it's really time to axe MP from the Games 😈🥳
    • I think there was a feeling before the obstacle course was introduced that really, really solid endurance runners were starting to dominate - in Triathlon you might call it the Alex Yee conundrum. Personally, I don't mind at all if the 'martial' elements are reemphasised as that is the real 'soul' of the sport - Triathlon, Marathon and Road cycing are there for genuine endurace, MP is in some senses a 'soldiery' test - one reason I thought Judo might have been a better addition than the obstacle course. But placing a higher emphasis on the fight bits over the flight bits seems a legitimate idea - though it should also increase the X-country nature of the run so that the test of a fresh shooter at the beginning is rather different from the test of a knackered one at the end. I quite like the artificial hill in rio.
