Just a little bump to remind everyone that, amidst all the excitement for other sports, the Luge Season starts tomorrow from Norway.  Excellent - probably the best of all winter sports - coverage is on YouTube featuring some of sports' most ditsy lady commentators and a revolving cast of guest experts, usually featuring whatever lugeist is having a day off and speaks decent English.

As of this year, sprint events have been eliminated (a pity, I liked them), while single and double relays have been added. These are two more events that the FIL wants to add to the Olympics. Both events will make their debut on Sunday in Lillehammer

More details of all the changes.  Also changes to start order to reduce the impact of the kind of weather-affected races we saw in skeleton a couple of weeks back.  And YT link above is now live with this week's start times.

Did something weird happen in the Luge today, or are they just slow to update the YT page?  Only 3 out of 6 races posted so far.

They're just slow. Fine conditions in Lillehammer, plus some track records :)

So far, a terrible weekend for us. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that even our own track won't help us win a medal at the Games.

C'mon... It just started. I think that we had some problems with sleds today

We are simply falling behind not only Germany and Austria, but also Latvia and the USA. In the men's doubles, we have not been able to find a strong team for many years, not to mention the women. It seems to me that we are falling behind in terms of materials. It`s a pity, because when we ride on the track at home, we should be fighting for these 2 medals.

    • That’s good news. There’s been no mention of the team in the local papers at all. If they go, I think they’ll be the first Philippine athletes to represent the country in a team event at the World Games.
    • No, Lake Placid won the bid to be the back-up host over St Moritz and Igls. I don’t believe any other track expressed interest.
