Bobsleigh Discussion | Qualification to Winter Olympic Games Milano Cortina 2026 Road to Milano Cortina 2026

Broke down some numbers for the final day of woman's qualification.

Monobob is done, except... For two quotas :AUS have their second best racing in the WC tomorrow.  If Blizzard cracks the to 12 (and there are only 17 entries) then it is possible for her to catch :ITA Andreutti. Andreutti is racing in the EC and needs a top 11 I believe to improve her score.

In the two women race for 3 quotas it is very close between :SUI Blatty and :CAN Ribi. If Blatty gets a top ten it gets really interesting. If not it is done.

For the final quota(s) it looks pretty much done, :BEL Van Petegem needs a top two finish in the WC to catch up, likewise :JAM Moore needs a similar finish in the EC. No chance. If Moore had raced in the WC it might have got interesting.

Breakdown for the men's qualification is ..zzzzzzzzz

:SUI Rohner finished off the competition for 3 quotas today

:AUT Mandlbauer holds the last spot for 2 quotas, as long as he gets to the bottom tomorrow it is done. If not then :BRA Ferreira would need a top five in the EC race to make it interesting.

:ISR Edelman and :TTO Brown are very close, but both are finished competing and there can be no change for the last quota now.

Ribi was lucky today because the track got faster. I hope Blatty can make up ground tomorrow in the two-woman and secure third place for Switzerland.

Rohner will take the third spot if he manages to complete two runs tomorrow. :SUI

Good point, :USA Mercer will finish with 1354 so I guess Rohner still needs 42 points which just requires that he finishes tomorrow.

Really sad...she crashed, and Ribi benefits even though she only competed in the NAC all year till now. What a pity. Muswama Kambundji would have been the third Kambundji sister to make it to the Olympic Games. Maybe in 4 years...

Yes, you’re not wrong about that partially. But it’s not like Ribi is a NAC level athlete (like our two male athletes in skeleton), if she was consistently competing on the WC stage she would be having around the same placements as Blatty.

I think it’s just that Canada have so many WC level athletes that besides Appiah/Lotholz who are locks bar injury, substituting them throughout each stop helps the federation select the best possible team for the Olympics.
