Team performance wise, not as happy as I was at this point with Tokyo, a bit happier than with Rio and Beijing 2008, but so much happier than with Athens 2004, London 2012 and especially Beijing 2022.

:CAN has at worse matched it’s all time gold and overall medal records in non-boycotted games, and Andre de Grasse just became a real Canadian sporting legend. I can (and in the heat of the moment do!) complain, but I know that when I have a little bit of hindsight I’ll be really happy with how Canada did these Olympics.

More generally, and not looking as closely at team Canada specifically, I think these Olympics aren’t as good as London 2012, but it’s generally a strong return to “normal” following the two COVID Olympics.

Arguably the best Olympics in terms of venues + fans

Canadian performance? 3/10, so many misses and fails, its hard to comprehend.

Portugal has a total of 31 medals in the whole 30 editions of Summer Olympic Games.

I was able to witness the number 31 live.

Wish I could go back in time just to say to my younger self, watching his first Olympics of Sydney 2000 and falling in love with the Olympic concept, that 24 years later the dream would become real!

So yes, with no doubt, best Olympic Games ever! :d

the French (Parisian) arrogance at the opening ceremony (putting Paris and its lifestyle over the Sport and the Games, not to mention some disrespectful acts), Italy underperforming, the Seine farce, Marseille with no wind to keep up with the schedule in sailing, refs scandals that made me re-evaluate the Seoul 1988 Olympics, men competing against women, all those non-sport activities getting so much recognition on the media, that thing they used to call boxing, the worst tv pictures production ever (with many sports ruined by blatantly incompetent directors)...

I just couldn't enjoy these Games at all

the only very positive aspect: the amazing popular participation, all the stadiums/arenas filled as never before also for the early morning prelims

Well final score:

Organization: 5-6

Main problems: Seine sh!tshow (I hope Hidalgo and all the political figures who put their political interests above athlete welfare are happy now that they managed to send at least 10 athletes to hospital courtesy of their grand plan - well this is way less than the number of those sacrificed to build the pyramids they could say)

Olympic village (cannot repeat enough) - it is a good idea to try to do an environmentally friendly OV but not at athletes expense! I bet this whole thing was designed by a number of bureaucrat's or activists with little practical sense and who are not going to stay there anyway.

Special mention to the sh!t food in the Olympic village

Most of the venues/atmosphere: 8-9

Hungary's performance: 7

I agree to you and i added: the food and beds for the athletes, the absence of air-conditioning, what happen with Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce......

Like argentinian, i never see what happen with the hostility of the public against our athletes in every single sport (may be the only exception was Torres who wins the gold in BMX freestyle), i didnt see that in any South American, Panamerican or Olympic Games before (including Rio), ok, the french are mad with our football team (is not the same team like Henry says but is the same sport), but with all the rest the same?.

I added: the web site is the best i can remember.

The argentinian performance: an average olympic one.

    • Is Finoro a significant addition? The rest of the squad is very weak and lost heavily to Great Britain at the last World Championship Div. 1 A. I'm worried he'll be a disaster in Milan in this squad and form
    • Pairs Event     The pairs event will kick-off in the second-half of the contest at the beginning of the third session. It will involve nations from the teams eliminated from the team competition after the first 2 sessions.   There will be 8 pairs participating so in addition to the 12 eliminated nations from the team event (13 in the event that the 4 nation team are eliminated), the remaining 3 or 4 places will be awarded to the lowest ranked nations individually who are still in the team event.   All rankings will be taken from the halfway stage (end of session 2).   Pairs will be formed by ranking the 16 participating nations and balancing them as follows: Highest ranked nation of the 16 will be paired with the lowest ranked of the 16. 2nd ranked will be paired with the 15th. 3rd ranked will be paired with the 14th, and so on in this fashion....     The format will mimic a madison cycling event. There will be 6 sprints in total (5 intermediate sprints and a final sprint). The intermediate sprints each will run over the course of 3 rounds of voting. For example:   Sprint 1 (votes from the 18th-20th juries) Sprint 2 (votes from the 21st-23rd juries) Sprint 3 (votes from the 24th-26th juries) Sprint 4 (votes from the 27th-29th juries) Sprint 5 (votes from the 30th-32nd juries)   There will then be a final sprint which will be worth double points and will consider the votes from the 33rd and 34th juries. How sprint points are won?? The 8 pairs will be ranked after each sprint is completed by the following criteria in order of importance:   - total medals won - gold medals won - silver medals won - bronze medals won - points won - highest point value from a single jury   Therefore, the pair that won the most total medals during that sprint will be ranked highest. If there is a tie for total medals, the pair with the most gold wins, then most silvers, then most, bronze medals.   If there is still a tie we then consider how many points the pair won during that sprint.     After each sprint, the highest ranked teams will be awarded points as follows:   - 1st ranked = 5 points - 2nd ranked = 3 points - 3rd ranked = 2 points -4th ranked = 1 point       Bonus points: Pairs will win 5 bonus points every time both pairs win medals from a single jury. Pairs will win 2 bonus points every time both pairs win points from a single jury. Pairs that win 5 bonus points for medal doubles, cannot also claim points doubles in the same vote, i.e. they won't receive 5 and 2 points, they will just receive 5 points.     In the event of a tie in the overall standings after each sprint, the pair that finished highest ranked in the most recent sprint will be ranked higher. Therefore, if there is a tie in the overall standings at the end of the competition, the pair that finished highest in the final sprint will be ranked higher overall.

    • I'm sure she is riding as a freelance, not really part of the US team.  Guessing the World Cup team is official, maybe some juniors on the 2nd level circuit are also official, but she is probably just doing it herself, or with friends helping.
    • Exactly, why not? It will be interesting to see if Uhlaender races in Sunday's Asian Cup. Very little opportunity to improve her score but they are not giving her the opportunity to race in WC or EC tomorrow. She has 84 points as her 7th best, so there is still a very small opportunity for her to be the American no. 2. Ro only needs a 23rd place I think to stay ahead. Just noticed she did not race at all in the first four NA cup races, but was registered for two, so more to her story for sure.
