Team GB Daily: Day 1

Recommended Posts

Generally decent morning in the pool. Both relays through, the men in 3rd after the heats. Freya Anderson split the best for the women, so early signs that the focus on the relays might be a wise decision.

Keanna MacInnes squeaks through into the SFs of the 100 fly, with a narrow PB. Kieran Bird doesn't make the final of the 400, not unexpectedly.

In the main individual event of the morning, both Peaty and Wilby comfortably through in the heats of the 100m breast, in 2nd and 6th overall.

The men’s relay can finish anywhere between 3rd and 5th. Will be fascinating to see the reaction if they finish 4th with China on the podium. I doubt they will be very happy.

Decent morning all in all, everyone through in the rowing, the quads all looking impressive, little bit of calm before the ITT's, be nice if they could stop having a manchester summer for the next couple of hours

Eurosport commentators seem thrilled with laura colett's test in the dressage eventing, so i will go with them on that, we have top two at this stage

:jawdrop:17.50 is a huge score and about 7 points better than she scored in Tokyo.

With 2 riders complete, GB have opened up a 13 point lead over Germany and we still have World Number 1 Ros Canter to come.

Of course tomorrow is the day with maximum danger for the team, but it's definitely a case of so far so good

Best ever Olympic eventing dressage score beating the record of David O’Conner of the USA from 2000
