Makedonas 2,165 Posted July 28, 2024 #581 Share Posted July 28, 2024 (edited) Very happy for Christou making the 100 backstroke final after being so close in Tokyo and missing out He has a huge chance to make history in the final with a medal but it will be very difficult... Also very sad for Makrygiannis coming in 9th, missing the final by 0.02 seconds . So close to having two Greek finalists! However he is young and if he can keep improving then we may see him in the final in 2028 Edited July 28, 2024 by Makedonas Ted, Josh, Topicmaster1010 and 2 others

Japanese swimmers have had a tendency to underperform at the big meets so it's nice to see him step up to the occasion. A user named „yamatake“ on SwimSwam predicted his medal. Apparently his coach Norimasa Hirai has had medal winning athletes (Kitajima, Hagino) at every Olympics since 2004. https://swimswam.com/2024-olympic-previews-the-skys-the-limit-in-400-im-for-marchand-but-battle-brews-for-3rd/ https://swimswam.com/storied-coach-norimasa-hirai-suspended-six-months-by-japanese-swimming-federation/ https://swimswam.com/storied-japanese-coach-niro-hirais-suspension-lifted-olympic-coaching-still-possible/ Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached. Topicmaster1010 4,252 Posted July 29, 2024 #583 Share Posted July 29, 2024 Looks like Gorbenko peaked at the Mare Nostrum competition this year. She's out of the 400m IM final. So is last years world championship bronze medallist Forrester. Josh 1 Going to take a break from this site for a bit. See you guys soon!
