I'm sad that Saudi women didnt win medal here, it would be so huge thing for all womens in this country :(

yes I would really liked her to win a medal if it wasn't against our athlete.

have to thank her though, if it wasn't for Abutaleb's first round win, Nematzadeh couldn't participate in the bronze medal match.

and Mobina became only the 2nd Iranian woman to win an Olympic medal. she deserved better but that's still great :yes

What's the reasoning behind the repechage system here and in wrestling, compared to judo? You can, with all due respect of course, be the least strong athlete of the field, yet fight for bronze with a single win if you're lucky enough to have drawn a strong opponent?

How is that more fair than at least needing to get to the quarter finals on your own merit before having a chance for bronze in case you lose? :p

To be clear: I am well aware I'm probably overlooking something :d But hence the question

Just a thought watching taekwondo today and yesterday - I noticed there are many athletes (especially female ones) from relatively exotic countries for female martial arts (Iran, Tunisia, even Saudi Arabia has a representative etc.). And suddenly I realized what may be behind it. Just look at taekwondo dresses. They are fully dressed up and virtually not showing any body which suits some cultures very well (especially Muslims) and is probably a valid and relatively uncontroversial option for talented women in these countries unlike i.e. wrestling.

I do not know if it is the only reason but I wanted to share the thought :)
