Just popping in to say, that golf is in the Olympic program :d Because no one seems to know, not the TVs, not the internet sites, not your Olympics spectators. People are more aware of surfing, which is being done on the other side of the planet.

It's getting a lot of coverage on US tv, but that's partially because they have an entire golf channel.

I've no real problem with golf being in the Games but I think strokeplay golf being in the Games is dumb and an insane choice. Who is going to commit to watching anything other than maybe the final few holes of round 4?

My conspiracy theory is that golf was added in the Olympics to ensure the Golf Channel is forced to show the Olympics instead of some random PGA event :P

Agree, they need to change the format, so it become a bit more dynamic.

Have the first 2 days be a normal full course rounds and then make a ranking at the end of day 2. The top 32 then move to an elimination bracket. You can play the 1/16 and 1/8 on the third day, but not on the whole course, but on a select 6 holes for example, so it's not dragging and it's more interesting. Then on the final day you have the 1/4, 1/2 and medal matches.

Seems a way more interesting competition.

@Federer91In other words you want match play for the last two rounds. They could use it for the whole competition tbh. Just put these golfers in 4-athlete groups like they do in World Matchplay or whatever that tournament is called? Then you would ensue everyone plays the course three times at least anyway.

No, i don't want them to play the full course over and over again. :d  It makes no difference, if it's a normal stroke tournament, or a round robin, if you are still playing all the holes again and again.

I want the elimination matches to be done on 5-6-7 holes only and be done within an hour. You play holes 1-5 in the 1/4, whoever wins plays holes 6-11 in the 1/2. Then you play 12-18 for the medal matches.

    • Finals are set    An all-Canadian final on the women’s side, as Team Homan looks to win their third title of the season (and improve to 18-1) against a hungry Team Einarson who have had a less than ideal start to the season, they were also the last Canadian team to beat Homan over a year ago (same event coincidentally), while on the men’s side it’ll be a battle between Olympic medalists as Team Mouat goes against Team Gushue!
    • Yeah, it was clear. But i repeat, we need it? I think no.

    • In the past the ISU has now allowed countries without a Federation to compete.
    • yeah I know    I mean it wasn't a different team specific for that sport. it was the same CC team participating in both sports.
    • It is run by a different federation though
    • from what I heard , Iran has registered to participate in Alpine, CC skiing, SkiMo, Skating (they didn't mention which discipline ) and ... (this one will be surprising ) ... Curling    Curling is not a sure thing yet, the NOC has to approve it. the team is very new. I mean very very new, only few months ago they gathered few people to start the sport  you can't lose 100-0 in Curling, right ?    anyway it will be first time ever Iran participating outside of FIS disciplines. ( I didn't count Ski orienteering in 2011 which was the same as CC)   nobody cares about winter sports here. therefore finishing last won't have consequences. they can afford sending very weak teams. (which is not the case for the main Asian Games)
    • World Junior Championships ( Dushanbe)   Day #4 Medallists   women's -78kg Gold:  Brenda Olaya Silver:  Mathilda Sophie Niemeyer Bronze:  Eva Ronja Buddenkotte &  Dandara Camilo   women's +78kg Gold:  Lee Hyeon Ji Silver:  Celia Cancan Bronze:  Chihiro Yamaguchi &  Safa Soliman   men's -100kg Gold:  Mukhammadsodik Sodikov Silver:  Nozomu Miki Bronze:  Azhdar Baghirov &  Fares Mekhoukh   men's +100kg Gold:  Denis Batchaev Silver:  Kanan Nasibov Bronze:  Saba Kardava &  Ibrahim Tataroglu
    • 100 days to go until the first multi-sports games of the 2025
    • 11 medals out of 15 athletes. for whatever reason  we sent an incomplete team of 16 athletes (only 1 left for tomorrow) I wish I knew why  I can guess though   the result is indeed very good in such a competitive sport but lack of talent was never our problem in taekwondo. it was always there probably much more than any other country.    but the problem is the transition to the senior team. most of previous junior world champions never even made the senior team. (the new federation is doing better in this regard though)
