What a match! Belgian fans can hardly believe what has happened

Such a shame I was slightly too late to turn the TV to the Belgian channel :d

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

:IND through to the semifinals! :d:yes

Referee cheated with Amit Rohidas Red card. The stick movement was not intentional.

Hearing on Amit Rohidas will take place at 7pm Paris time. He is likely to serve a one match ban. Tournament Director to take a call after reviewing severity of offence.

For me, even taking nationality aside (soz Will Calnan), I'd look it as:

- Rohidas had possession, dribbling ball on ground

- Calnan comes in to challenge

- Rohidas is fully aware there is player next to him evidenced by body contact

- Rohidas touches ball away on reverse stick, losing control of the ball

- Both chase for the now loose ball

- Rohidas raises his stick beyond and above the arm of the player on him during chase, and then immediately lowers it
- Stick makes full contact with Calnan

- Rohidas then elbows Calnan as Calnan goes to ground

- Play stopped

The challenge I'd have is that:

- Raising a stick that high is dangerous

- It cannot have been a legitimate attempt to play the ball by Rohidas as it was too far away

Therefore for me, the intent was to raise the stick in a manner to impede the player, as neither had the ball. Because the stick was used, and not say a shove or similar I'd be hard pressed to give anything but a red.

Relevant rules:

9.2 Players on the field must hold their stick and not use it in a dangerous way

9.12 Players must not obstruct an opponent who is attempting to play the ball. Players obstruct if they: – back into an opponent – physically interfere with the stick or body of an opponent – shield the ball from a legitimate tackle with their stick or any part of their body.

Umpiring Rules:

2.3.h When a player intentionally misbehaves in a serious manner towards another player, umpire or other match official the red card must be shown immediately.

First of all, there was no elbowing.

Secondly, when player raises the stick as an initial trigger to hit the ball, he is unaware of his opponent's position( as he is looking in a forward direction and in no way in any physical contact with the opponent.
