There is something entertaining, in a so bad it’s good kinda way, seeing all the 5000m runners just lay down and die for Jakob Ingebrigtsen to win a gold after failing to win the 1500m for the THIRD major championship in a row.

We saw similar in the Mo Farah era but at least they did something even if they used to leave it to the final couple of laps. Plus the Ethiopians had better runners then. Not a race to live in the memory. Norway and Ingebrigtsen won’t care about that though, they get the gold.

They shouldn’t, you beat the people in front of you.

 

I really do wonder why the field consistently plays in Jakob’s hands at major championships. I got it the first time but it’s the third time the exact same thing happens in three years.
