Home town bias :raspberry:

of course I couldn't watch many fights since the early days had no coverage and in the previous days I didn't follow the action very closely, but for what I've seen Today, the only score that might have gone the other way round was the 2nd round of Charaabi's match vs the Korean IM (and it could have been a decisive factor, we will never know)

Mesiano, Carini and Lenzi were clearly better than their opponents

on the other hand, I saw more than one very controversial score in other fights...some were just made useless by the other judges, who saved the deserving winner, but not all the fighters were so lucky (Grainne Walsh, the first that comes to my mind)

I can't believe we reached a point we can't qualify a male boxer

Although Canada has in fact qualified a male boxer, I feel your pain…

Finally a quota for Bulgaria from this Olympic qualification won by Rami Kiwan :BUL:clap:

Saving grace in the end, but overall a disappointing tournament. We could have gotten 3-4 more quotas.

All 3 women had their chances. Nwamerue was stupidly injured by her opponent, Mehmedova lost to the eventual finalist from NED, and i don't know what happened with Chukanova today.

On the men, Rado Rosenov was also unfortunately cut in his match and the referee had to stop it. And at +92 Morejon got a very bad draw and lost to this new French guy, that won the quota. Frustrating because Lenzi got a quota today, when Morejon had easily dispatched him at the European Games.. Brackets will play a big factor in the final Qualifier.

Overall, 31 nations qualified at least one quota. Here are the distribution:

5 Quotas

:KAZ:UZB

4 Quotas

:ITA

3 Quotas

:POL

2 Quotas

:COL:GER:GBR:NOR:PHI

1 Quota

:AZE:BRA:BUL:TPE:CUB:DOM:FRA:HUN:IRL:JOR:KOS:NED:PUR:IOC:SRB:ESP:TJK:THA:TUR:USA:VEN:VIE

Quite well distributed. As expected, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan made up for their poor performance at the Asian qualifier.

    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA

    • impossible, there are not enough venues in both towns and I mean, Milan doesn't have an Olympic Stadium, a decent Tennis Complex and a big Swimming Complex (not to mention the sea) Rome, on the other hand, doesn't have a Rowing/Canoeing Basin nor arenas and stadiums for the team sports beyond football and rugby there's no chance that all those venues would be built from scratch, meanwhile if we use both cities we already have almost everything we need, especially the most expensive and controversial sites
