Anyone have some idea about playoff pairs? How it will works, group 5 Vs Group 6?

As I understand it, the winner of each group will be given a bye through to the round of 16:

Position 1 - Winner of group 1

Position 16 - Winner of group 3

Position 17 - Winner of group 4

Position 32 - Winner of group 2

Winners of groups 5,6,7 & 8 will then be drawn into positions 8,9, 24 & 25.

Group runners-up will be placed in the opposite half of the draw to their group winner and will play against a 3rd placed team - this cannot be a team that they have already played in the group stages.

Just a question on team rankings. Why do teams who qualified for 2020 Olympics have ranking points from 4 tournaments while rest have points from just 3 tournaments. This skews the rankings towards those teams qualified in 2020

There are 4 different categories which count towards ranking:

Best single ranking

Olympics

World Championship

Continental Championship or Games

if you did not participate in some events then you don’t get points. Some nations have only two results as they didn’t participate in the World Championship. Some nations have only the singles ranking.
Seems logical to me.

:USA looking at a DSQ for one of their players in the final group match of round 2 - because the racquet/bat failed inspection. That would give the tie to :KAZ but nobody really seems to know what is going on.

If that is the case, :KAZ :GBR & :USA would all be tied on 2-2.

    • Atalanta is probably playing the most beautiful football in Europe right now: spectacular and effective. It's nice to watch and they don't have to spend a lot of money for it.   Inter is playing very economically. It's not impressive but it's consistently collecting points. It's also the only team in the Champions League that hasn't conceded a goal this season.   Milan played very poorly yesterday but they won. They have 9 points and are close to qualifying for the play-offs.

    • Unfortunate, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm looking forward to Thursday evening, when the team captain's meeting is over and we have our very first World Cup start list of the season. Always a cool moment to see who's there and everything
