Last year we had the problem of mixed teams that didn't fit into any category. Many suggestions were made and I would like to find a way to include them without reducing the number of categories. We currently have three teams or doubles categories:

  • Best Men's Team

  • Best Women's Team

  • Best Doubles or Pair

I thought about adding a Best Mixed Team category (which also would include groups), but I don't know if we would have enough worthy candidates other than Equestrian, especially in a non-Olympic year. Do you guys have any suggestion?

How about combining the mixed category with the pairs and doubles to make it “Best Doubles / Pairs / Mixed Team Award”?

Not sure if it fits but it is a way to capture all of the other non-individual events in one grouping.

I'd throw in Ezra Frech :USA as well. He broke the T63 High Jump WR and won the world title this year. He has the potential to become one of the para athletes whose fame transcends the Paralympic Movement. Definitely a name to keep track of heading into Paris 2024.

I'd probably just go with 'Best team' and 'Best doubles/pair', instead of splitting it between men and women.

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

And thanks for the annual reminder that next year I am REALLY going to write down the cool and inspiring and impressive things and performances I see in sports.....just like in the previous 10 years I forgot it entirely, which will make it insanely hard to remember...well, basically just what actually happened :p

I know para winter sports are often not exactly the most competitive, because of the often rather small fields of participants, but...Aline Rocha really should be on the list of suggestions as well, I'd say. World champion in para-cross-country skiing plus two bronze medals...for Brazil, of all places. I'd have said the same if she was Chilean by the way :p A truly 'exotic' athlete (it's not like she actually lives and trains in North America or Europe or something) winning several winter sports world championships medals, including a first-ever gold....that is something special.

Yeah, I thought about her too because that's really incredible, but I didn't think others would notice (i.e. non-brazilians).

There are so many worthy candidates for men's and women's teams that I don't think any mixed team would have enough votes to compete if we had a single category, making the merge kind of pointless. So, if we can't have a "mixed" category (not enough contenders), perhaps it would be better to include them in another category as suggested.

Same here, but I probably don't watch as much stuff as you do. I mostly remember some moments from Gymnastics and the Pan American Games, none of which will have a chance to actually be nominated :p

    • Sorry but this is the stupidest idea I’ve ever heard… putting in 3x3 hockey (which doesn’t even have its own World Championships or anything like that) over telemark skiing, ice cross, and freeride skiing…    This is coming from a big fan of hockey. Curious as to what @hckošice @phelps @Epic Failure @copravolley@Topicmaster1010 think though?

    • Last Call For Entries!!   If anyone still wants to enter, this is your last chance to do so. Since I now won't be able to use tomorrow as a voting day I have dedcied to give people an extra 24 hours from this point to enter. The public jury vote will still open at the advertised time. Below I have tagged user from countries that have yet to enter, hopefully they will consider to do so at the last opportunity:   South Korea: @erw@jgb0062 Croatia: @Nikica@snk911@VISOKO Gabon: @Damienyork Belgium: @ALABRAMMIE@Misterxxt Latvia: @Blueniceguy Dominican Republic: @eduardo096 Singapore: @bennetcraig39 Egypt: @mahmoud elrefaei @thepharoah Qatar: @amrgunenr1@KAE Australia: @Sir Rols@Stu192 @dullard Philippines: @JohnRamos84 @PHI2019 @Tigercub Iran: @Hesamkh1990 @MHSN Estonia: @Katie_M Bangladesh: @Razu Ahmed  Montenegro: @ChandlerMne Hong Kong: @pacowong1223    Also @NaBUru38 I know you said you weren't up for doing it due to time but do you think you would reconsider?
