Yesss   Angelina Mango won the 74th Festival di Sanremo.

Geolier won the popular vote by 60% but he was DESTROYED from press and radio juries. Vamosss

This is hideous, Geolier bought almost all SIM cards for voting and flopped :hyper:

Angelina is a really strong choice, this is what I want to see from Italy more, it's giving Italian charm and charisma, and dance motives, so it's the perfect entry for Eurovision for me. Good luck at the ESC

Incredible numbers for the Sanremo final, reaching a 74% share (!!!). For comparison, the semi-final of the UEFA European Championship Italy-France had a 77% share.

Apparently, the Superfinal reached 80-85% share, staggering numbers comparable to World Cup football finals with Italy, wow.

Can someone explain what all this controversy is about Geolier ? Never heard of him before and find all the drama strange.

The main problem is that the song was terrible, truly terrible (aside from being in Neapolitan and not in Italian, the rules were ad-hoc changed for him). There have been many accusations that Geolier's fans bought SIM cards in mass to vote, but I find that quite unlikely.

Certainly, many Neapolitans believe the controversies are a matter of territorial racism, but it's absolutely false—I say this as a Campanian. Even Angelina Mango has verses in Neapolitan in her songs, and she's from Basilicata.

Sanremo is Sanremo; controversies and boos are normal. It has always happened and is part of the show. I recall an edition where the jury rebelled against Emanuele Filiberto, a member of the former Italian royal family, entering the final, even throwing the sheet music

Australia is European country, you didn't knew that? :d

Why is Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest when it's 12,000 miles away?

I thought :NZL annexed Tasmania according to recent activity on Totallympics :p

I still don't understand this weekly hype, where you have festival nights in succesion, from 8.45 till almost 2 a.m. (on final night even longer).:d

And then on Sunday two hour long morning talk show about San Remo, in the afternoon another show. It is just too much.

Anyway, I like the winner a lot, it has quite a lot of energy, also Annalisa was not bad, was cheering also for Clara or maybe Rose Villain and for "una ragazza e un ragazzo".

I am not surprised Mahmood was not in top 5, did not convince me.

    • It's good that Argentina is starting to get back on track economically. Every year, all of our alpine skiing teams train in August in Argentina in Ushuaia: "Fine del Mundo", as it advertises itself.
    • The relation of Trump with Russia and, more specific, with Putin is probably the most controversial (being generous) thing of the presidence of Trump, i dont believe the same but is clearly that China help democrats in that election, both are playing their games.   In Argentina the society is clearly divided, the people who are in the left side of the politics, peronist and kirchnerism are very against the goverment, propably the only genuine "rigth-wing" goverment since the recovery of the democracy in 1983. For me and the most part who are in the rigth wing: libertarians, nacionalist and conservatives, is probably the best goverment we see to this days, he made in his first year with a very few legislators in the congress some big and good changes:   1) In the economical: the inflation is only 3% per month since a more of 15% in the last months of the last year, Argentina has now fiscal, financial and comercial surplus-   2) Our country didnt have fighter planes and the goverment buy 24  American F16  -   3) He chances the electoral sistem for a "single ballot" sistem, we have an obsolete electoral sistem that doesnt change from the 19 century and specially, the peronist use for make fraud.   4) In my personal case, he really update the tax sistem for smal/medium profesionals and traders.......and that save us to pay the 50% of our earnings to the state.   With a big expectations in the goverment, its better than i thinked before.
    • It could be better, or it could be much worse, for example, if the accusations that he has been accepting large amounts of money from Russia since 2017 are confirmed. Now let Harris win, which will end Trump's political career and I hope that in 4 years the Republicans will put up someone more predictable.     btw, how is this controversial president of Argentina doing?
    • More predictable is not always better, for me the goverment of Biden was one of the worst of the History of USA and i cant imagine what can happen with even a worse version like Harris is.   I hope, for the contrary, Trump be elected and "may be" the things changes for the better in the world.
    • I once read that Harris had never been to Europe before 2020, when she became vice president. On the other hand, her foreign policy will be more predictable, because it will be a continuation of Biden's policies. That is why I hope Harris wins, although the bookmakers are betting on Trump.
    • Harris is totally green on foreign policy. It will probably be a policy 100% led by Biden's people. Harris' main campaign emphasis is on abortion and women's rights.
    • So much for "everybody's laughing at us if we elect Harris"
    • My favorite tennis tournaments of the year (wta/atp finals)
    • was also invited to the special edition of the Bolivarian Games and seems like  is not participating.
