Ramona can definitely exist, of course, if it is within the rules there is no problem with it, although we should of course look at those results with a certain point of view
Like track cycling records on 3km altitude, or swimming records in super suits. They count, but a 4:00.0 on 3km altitude is not as good as a 4:00.0 on sea level, just like a 70m in Ramona is very likely not a 'better throw' than a 70m in a stadium during major championships.
perfectly valid, and yeah as a throws person,i really don't care much for the concept either,i wouldn't raise alarm bells yet,i don't think it's gonna be all that crazy in year one,but i mean as funny as it may sound,i think grand slam track means that something like ramona is not a need but a MUST now,if the track people can just do this now,i don't see ANY valid reason for RAMONA to not exist for at THE VERY LEAST,discus throwers to get attention, but a top 5 ever result was achieved in the women's hammer there too this year, and you can't blame THAT one on the wind.
I know many think "Nice, shiny things, it must be great", but...what is it actually adding? So far, it adds a format where they combine two events in one 'set', which often don't really have much to do with one another, and resulting in 80% of the time being filled with waiting. While also entirely ignoring field events (I know, it's Grand Slam Track), which is basically half of the sport. If this gets big, I fear for field events, and with that, for the sport itself. We might end up with athletics being almost entirely running only.
Yeah, I know it isn't happening, so I kinda hope the whole thing just flops and is done after 1 or 2 years
Grand Slam Track is a bigger danger to athletics than anything Coe or whoever has done in the past 10-15 years.
