There are numerous such examples. Numerous other temples have other restrictions like a certain dress code to be followed, a certain offering to be made, a certain time when the temple can be visited only. Such restrictions are there because we treat the residing diety not only as a God but also as a human and these restrictions are there according to the legend associated with the residing diety.

Well this begs the question of should religions and traditions have to change in order to fit modern ideals (eastern and western (it shouldn’t matter))?
