Organisers of Berlin's New Year's Eve celebrations are to set up a "safe zone" for women for the first time.

If by 'normal' you mean it's something we'll see more often, than yes.

 

If by 'normal' you mean it's something that's no big deal, than no, it's not normal that this is apparently necessary.

I've been to the Berlin New Year's Eve once and it was one hell of half the world population (or so it felt) in a small area, and the walk back to the train station (and from the train station to our hotel) was mostly filled with loud, annoying drunk people and people sitting in their own vomit. Never again

To be fair, anything that Saudi Arabia does that is something slightly good for women is a small, but good step forward

yeah, something like, allow women to work in some public administration but put crowd of male guards to keep eye on her
