Looking forward to the qualifiers....India in the men... Ashish and Satish in qtrs rest in rd of 16 ... In my opinion India has a great squad in lower weights upto 75 and an average sqd after that

1. Amit...52...top seeded...Should qualify easily he has pretty average boxers for the next 2 bouts and he is current Asian champ... World silver...

2 . Gaurav...... 57 ..... Facing a very tough next bout miraziz of uzb(  Current world champ )1... So 90% get eliminated ... Pity as he is a real beautiful boxer lovely straight lines... I think kavinder was not an attractive boxer.. Very old fashioned shell guard

3. Manish kaushik...63... Shocked that he is not seeded....current world bronze medallist .. Faces PNG boxer and MGL third seed..... I feel he can win both .... He is one graceful boxer.. Really one of our best

4. Vikas... 69 ....firmer world bronze medalist and . In my view Indias most talented boxer.... Often badly prepared... Has been away for a year tried to turn pro ... But I think he looks focussed and has dropped a weight class..... But should win against KGZ and JPN....

5. Ashish... 75 .... Lovely lines and has a huge height advantage eliminated the 3rd seed Uulu should win against INA I believe.....

6 . Sachin..... 81... Very unknown.... Faces a relatively easy draw... SAM and than a comparatively weak KGZ seed ..... But no clue....

7 Naman... 91 .... I think may beat SYR in rd of 16 ..... He is I think is not at all graceful boxer...

Will probably lose to Nyika of NZL..... ( personally I think Sumit Sangwan is a better boxer in this weight)

8 .Satish... 91+ ....seeded 4 ....Should qualify has only one bout against MGL.... He is a very workmanlike boxer and should win....

I hope for 4-5 qualifiers

Watching naman ( see above comment given before the bouts) box after watching vikas box was like going to hell after a glimpse of heaven...... India breaks their all win streak ... The Syrian boxer was not hotstuff..........Naman is such a poor boxer in such a class squad.... ?..... I really do not understand it.... The guy does not have a straight jab....I stopped watching the bout halfway...

Getting into the Quarters ( and just one bout from determining majority of quota places ) . This is the status of the countries still in the qualifiers

Ind  11
Kaz 10
Uzb 9
Chn 9
Thai 8
Mgl 8
Aus 8
IRI 5
Jor 5
Phi 5
Tjk 4
Kor 4
Tpe 4
Jap 3
Vie 3
Sam 2
Nzl 2
Ina 1
Syr 1
Bhr 1
Hkg 1

Only KAZ got all 8 men in ,   IND and MGL got all 5 women in

Obviously thrilled with India's performance overall, the squad has boxed well and seemed in good form

( except for the Jester in our pack Naman in 81 )  ,

but we did have a relatively easy draw on the whole ..

    • very poor performance by the US bullpen both Yesterday and Today    not very impressed by this US team for the entire tournament, also in the Mexican first group (Panama deserved to qualify more than them, but they were lucky with the draw and won the decisive direct matchup)   Venezuela confirmed themselves as a very strong team at bat, but with too many troubles on the mound   Today against Japan they had to make a pitching change already in the 1st inning and basically they had to go for a bullpen game, but it didn't come out like the Dodgers'   Japan always on top of their game, even when the pitching staff doesn't perform at best...frankly, they look more and more unbeatable when no MLB superstar is involved (like in this case), but also when it comes down to the top of the pops it's not that they look worse (see 2023 WBC)  there's a serious risk that their domination becomes even too easy, the gap between them and the rest of the world is widening year after year   Taiwan might look like a surprise, but after the 2023 fail, I was sure they were going to rebound and establish themselves among the top teams in the WBSC tournaments, as they are very good in each and every aspect of the game (batting, pitching...maybe a bit less on defense, but you can't have it all)
