Just imagine the spanish/italian attitude but with a worse health system. I fear for latin america...

Especially for Mexico and Brazil who have governments in denial.

Mexico ?? seems to be in full corona mode

So could the government in Mexico and Brazil be under reporting the cases or are there many cases undetected over there?

This is damn scary news. So all those badminton players around the whole world who have played in Bcacelona, Spain Open and All England Open plus all the spectators at the stadium may have to go for Coronavirus checkup as soon as possible due to the sparring partner for Taiwanese badminton team got infected with Coronavirus after travelling to Spain, Germany and England.

This also goes to show that the virus is wide spread in Spain, Germany and England without people knowing it. Those in the same bus and plane with these Taiwanese may need to be very careful. How do track all of them? This person only knew he got the virus after he went back to Taiwan and did a medical check up. Oh no.

Spain and UK are way past "tracking people" I think we can say the same about almost all other countries. only China was able of tracking everybody.

Chinese badminton NT still stay in England after All England Open. Media says they have to stay there until the end of March because they aren't able to buy air tickets back to China. All direct flight tickets sold out until April.

Very scary like this. The viruas is spreading every where in England and it is out of control. People in England may not even know they got the virus or not.

Then hope China badminton players get to do their check up for the virus in England.

    • There is a transgender volleyball player here in Brazil; there was even a recent controversy (this year) when a city banned her from playing in a certain competition, which ended up in court, ultimately in her favor.   But the situation is much simpler than that; the reason for this decision is because of the two female boxers who won at Paris 2024 (who apparently are not transgender).

    • Where did you get that?   I'm not sure I would have considered her to have dissapeared from out of nowhere, at least since after Tokyo... she did win medals at the next two World Championships. I think it's just recently, she's been struggling with injury which is why she's completely out of form...
    • Even though I'm not the biggest fan of her, always sucks to see a career ending through injury and not on your own terms
    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.

    • People focus on trans people because it's easier to pinpoint the affected athletes. Meanwhile it's the athletes with (suspected) DSDs that will have tougher time to convince the authorities and the public opinion that they belong to women's sports.
