So, the show officially started some 2 hours ago. Obviously some troubles like and mainly the lack of medics in some places caused complications, some testing stations did not open in time, but the army is dealing with it and by eight o'clock this morning apparently 91% of the stations were open. They claim that during the morning all stations will be open and ready as schedulled.

However since early morning today Crazy queues are forming all over Slovakia from the west to east, from north to south of the country, in every city and almost all villages (The smaller villages with less inhabitants will have only 1 testing day, they were allowed to select if today or tommorow)

One special "Drive-In" testing station in Bratislava (people of the capitals, they are all the same everywhere I swear)

Crazy queues doesn't sound like the very brightest of ideas in 2020 :d

Scientists have already established that the virus only spreads when people are standing side by side, like in bars, and not from back to front, like in queues.

First 1/4 is over.

Attendance look just impressive. Long, very very long fronts of people standing infront of all testing stations. We don´t have the official numbers so far, the Minister of Defence announced he´ll have a more detailed press conference around 16:00, with probably the morning numbers...

Pictures from the morning

Heard last week pilot trial event story about two Argentine tourists came to Slovakia, when they noticed people standing in lines here and there and found out about the free nationwide testing, they decided to join.

unfortunately... both were positive

so to say about a trip

@hckosice sorry I am not up to date on what’s going on. What is the goal of this mass testing? Is it to discover who currently has the virus only or is it an anti-body test also to see who already had it?
Also what if some people pick up the virus after this test, maybe as a result of close contact with others being tested. Is this a once-off mass test?

1. hopes the testing and subsequent placing of positive people into isolation will help reverse the current trend where we are seeing a record-high daily increases in new cases.

The experts recommended 2 weeks ago only 1 thing. Total and full 3 weeks national lockdown. The PM and governement decided to try one last attempt a mild lockdown and a nation wide testing in 2 consecutive weekends.

2. Is it to discover the biggest possible amount of asymptomatic pacients. and place them into isolation to not spread the virus.

3. The next weekend should be scheduled the retesting of all negatives from this weekend (for example The all negatives from the 4 most touched northern districts that had last weekend the trial round) are now retested and the next weekend will be tested for third time

Hope this will help to answer your question, if you want to know more I suggest you to follow this site in english https://spectator.sme.sk/c/22523203/nationwide-testing-for-covid-19-launched.html

  • Latest Posts around Totallympics

    • Slovakia is technically returning through Czechia :)
    • We've been told that during the past 3 tournaments as well. There won't be many opportunities left. While I obviously believe they can do something big this year, it will be crucial not to screw up the quarterfinal game from the very beginning.
    • Italy will boycott the Azeri stage for protest against the international federation.
    • Likely for Tannheimer, quite unlikely for Galmace Paulin. She's far from being assured to even start in the WC before turning 20. Basically she'd have to get a spot this season, which could actually happen if she takes the extra-ticket at the JWCH. Anyway I don't see her making her way to gold in Oslo. Tänglander has a few seasons to do it, we'll see.       Quite surprisingly so, indeed. Barring her horrendous finish Richard would have made it 2 in one go. We should have some more names in the list in 2025.
    • There are some of Slovakia's finest young squads at the World Juniors in recent years
    • Alpine skiing also we have a lot of problems: the men's team is very weak and has been winning a few podiums a season for several years and the our best skier- Dominik Paris is 35. We still have a strong women's team but 3 of the 4 leaders are over 30 (Goggia, Brignone, Curtoni) and Bassino is 28. Another 2 years and we will have the same problem as the men's. There is basically no cross-country skiing without Pellegrino for many years, biathlon is based on 2 individuals with one of them has a 35 years. Vittozzi's injury was enough and we haven`t a single podium this season after 3 stages of the World Cup. As for 1 year to the home games the situation isn`t optimistic.
    • Hail to the Reds... Commanders. First time since 1991 Washington QB has thrown 5 TD passes in a game (which isn't all that improbable in the modern game alas Dan Snyder...)
    • Italy is much better in alpine skiing, in The end all Nations have a Limited Talent Pool. Norway is far better than Sweden/Finland in Cross-Country skiing, alpine skiing and Biathlon, but Sweden/Finland are far better in ice Hockey.  Great Britain wins far more medals than Germany At Summer olympics, but GB is also inexistant in Winter Sports and Most popular Team Sports (Volleyball, Handball, Basketball, Ich Hockey).
    • Thanks, great stat! Tannheimer wont turn 20 until August 2025, so she has The whole Season To Join Kristiansen and Neuner. Too Bad that she was ill this week. I think Galmace Paulin and Tänglander could also do it. I think Grotian (born 2004) is The First female Biathlete born after 1999 To make a World Cup Podium. On The Mens side multiple Athletes (Perrot, Giacomel, Uldal) have already done it.   E. Öberg was 22 and a half when she First won.  Dahlmeier was 21 and a half.   Edit: Grotian only narrowly missed The Podium in The Individual at The 2024 World Championships when she was still  19 year old.
