  • 4 weeks later...

12 days until the Paralympics begin, but lots to keep me busy until then :yes

Baden Masters in curling, Cincinnati Masters/US Open in tennis, any athletics meets I can find (including the Diamond Leagues in Lausanne and Silesia), Men’s 3x3 Basketball World Tour Lausanne/Women’s 3x3 Basketball World Tour Baku/Debrecen, Wheelchair Basketball Cup of Nations, Hamburg Elite16 in beach volleyball, Beach Volleyball European Championships (I’m not paying for EuroVolleyTV, so whatever they stream on the EuroVolley YouTube channel I guess), Men’s Flag Football World Championships, Ice Hockey Olympic Qualifiers

No AVP Manhattan Beach, purely due to the fact that they keep changing subscription services every single tournament (I’m not paying for BallyTV or IONTV), when it was fine on YouTube:facepalm::bones::spank:

Paralympic and US Open schedules are still TBD, usually I figure that type of stuff out the day of. Next few days I’ll also be scouring through the internet in search of some athletics meets (because well, barely any sports), as well as doing some real life stuff, Totallympics stuff, watching some Netflix movies that are about to get removed from the app, and whatever else I can think of :p

Deciding to give the Men’s 3x3 World Tour/Women’s Series stops in Debrecen, FIBA 3x3 Euro Cup, Junior Pan Pacs in swimming, Rowing World Championships, Sprint Canoeing World Championships, Girls U17/Boys U17 Volleyball World Championships, WSL Fiji Pro (edit: or not), Beach Volleyball U19 World Championships, opening FIS Freestyle WC, and the BWF Japan Open a skip though. Was debating on whether to watch the latter knockout matches in men’s 3x3 instead of Paralympics, but in the end, once every four years… so yeah.

  • 4 weeks later...

Been way less busy the last couple of days (usually I find something to watch, but besides KOTC and NFL there’s been nothing), still there’s a decent amount to look forwards to the next week or so.

Lots of tennis on with the Davis Cup and the Guadalajara Open, probably will watch more then is on the schedule. No AVP League for me, stupid idiots decided to ruin the sport by making it PPV when it was doing completely fine on YouTube.

Anyone know if there’s a free streaming option for the Women’s U20 Football World Cup? For Canada’s matches of course :d

if there's no tv coverage, it might be on the FIFA+ App/website

here in Italy, it's free...no idea if it's the same elsewhere? :mumble:

p.s. no interest in the new Olympic discipline, (Beach Sprint) Coastal Rowing?

it should be all free on the world rowing website/youtube page, starting Tomorrow

    • Brisbane 2032 Venues Announcement event 25 March 2025   Following completion of the 100-Day Games Review, the new Queensland Government has announced in this Courier Mail that it will announce the Brisbane 2032 Venues Plan on 25 March 2025 following consulations/approvals with Games stakeholders.   I hope that they can stick to this all-encompassing, consultations-complete timeline of 25 March. Perhaps this tight timeline is a real indication that changes to the existing overall Brisbane 2032 venues and infrastructure plan are not going to be widespread as was first thought ? I mean if the government were to support widespread changes to the Venues plan, then 17 days (8-25 March) is an awfully short period of time for consultations and approval with and from the IOC, affected international sport federations and government. So for this reason, I’m guessing that widespread venue changes and infrastructure projects will not be happening. Perhaps a new stadium for track and field, ceremonies and legacy tenants AFL & Cricket and that’s it ... everythng else pretty much unchanged including Brisbane Arena staying in Roma Street Parklands. A Maroochydore rail line likely a bridge too far. But that’s only my guess. Perhaps now’s a good time to begin lowering our expectations of what is coming. Yes, …. and hoping too for some leaks from 8 March onwards.   Here’s more from the Courier Mail report:   Queensland Premier David Crisafulli will unveil his 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games venues and infrastructure plan at The Courier-Mail’s Future Brisbane Special Event on 25 March, which has already been sold out.   It will be the most significant announcement for Brisbane since winning the bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games.   More than 300 people, including leaders of government, industry and Brisbane 2032 decision makers will be at Howard Smith Wharves for the announcement. As revealed last week, the Queensland Government will release the 100-day infrastructure review report, and its response, on Tuesday, March 25.   The government will receive the report on March 8 and then use the subsequent 16 days to consult other levels of government, the International Olympic Committee and 2032 organising committee President Andrew Liveris. Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner, Federal Sport Minister Anika Wells and Queensland Premier David Crisafulli at The Courier-Mail’s Future Brisbane event in November, 2024.   The Premier will announce the venues plan in conversation with The Courier-Mail Editor Chris Jones at the Future Brisbane Special Event lunch Sunday Mail Editor Melanie Pilling will then host an expert panel with industry reaction to the Games venues plan. Since 2017, The Courier-Mail’s Future Brisbane series has played a leading role in advocating for our city and ensuring the 2032 Games deliver long-term legacy benefits.

    • Not sure if this is the right thread but there is no 2025 boxing discussion thread so .   Anyway the Standja tournament starts tomorrow. Its not a great field for ye know various reasons (womens world champs in a couple of weeks/  IBA run tournament). It's mostly just the Uzbek and Kazakh A and B men's teams and not a whole lot else but the draw has thrown up a potentially reallly good fight in the opening round where Olympic champion Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev  meets the boxer of the tournament from the youth world championships last year Torekhan Sabyrkhan  who comes with a ludicrous amount of hype. Muydinkhujaev might just win easily but it could be a great fight. 14:00/ 14;15 ish GMT tomorrow on bulgarian boxing youtube channel.   (On an unrelated note I wrote quite a long and likely misguided early projection of a potential Irish Olympic squad for LA on the Irish club's thread if anyone is interested.)
    • Team Homan win this year’s Scotties, their second title in a row, defeating Team Einarson 6-1 in the final!   Undefeated all week long for both.
    • Einarson way light on her last, steal of 2 for Homan and she’s in some real trouble now.    Homan leads 5-1 after the 8th end, well on her way to a second consecutive Scotties title now.
    • Team Homan applying lots of pressure during the end, Einarson hits and sticks against 3 for the single.    1-1 after 4.
    • Einarson was looking good for a couple throughout most of the end. Cue Homan, two consecutive doubles and we get a blank end.
