So apparently there is a four continents speed skating championships this weekend, only 53 athletes from 8 countries. Some countries like Kazakhstan are not competing.

There sure is, first time too!

 

As long as Canada, the US, Japan, China and South Korea send their A team it will still be more competitive than the European championships.

 Kim Boutin has withdrawn due to injury, she is replaced by Danaé Blais.

I think the ISU has lost it. THe 2022 championships are scheduled to finish 5 days before Beijing 2022 starts....

Probably this only means that only non-selected athletes and non-qualified nations will compete.

Honestly these championships should be developmental only. They have become the FIVB of winter sports, with endless championships.
