That's a silver i didnt expect! Amy hunt with a silver!

Kind of a bit of both.  Knew she was better than DAS, thought she could beat Jackson and some of the Americans, but somehow didn't quite think it would happen.

Thought she might get the bronze. Didn't expect her to beat Shericka

:yes :yes Makes a nice change for the BBC talking heads to actually call out the poor performance of the women's 4x400 relay rather than making excuses or going down the whole 'they gave it their best' routine.

Have been pleasantly surprised by the BBC coverage this champs although the mix zone interviews are a bit pathetic.

Jack Turner was the great hope for GB, but I think he has struggled with injury and hasn't progressed a huge amount.

Sammy Ball completed at the European under 23's and finished in 6th with 7817 but he did set a pb of 8100 in Gotzis - about 400 points down on WC qualifying standard. There is also Lewis Chruch - he also set PB in Gotzis 8093. Decent chance we could see Ball competing in Birmingham next year at the Europeans

Hmmm the BBC seem to be going a bit easier on the men's 4x100 failure than they did on the women's 4x400.

Surely, failing to get the baton round is as bad as getting the baton round in last place.

Both KJT and Jade O'Dowda wrap up the qualifying standard for next year's Europeans. Never in doubt for KJT but takes pressure off for O'Dowda - now they just need to stay injury free.

Think we can probably all agree this wasn't a vintage championships for us.

On the upside, UK Athletics selection policy was definitely a step forward - taking people who qualify through world ranking should be a no-brainer even if they are last in the list. That being said, it didn't take Mystic Meg to know that a couple of the announced athletes weren't going to get in. That's just administrative mismanagement.

On the downside, the relays were an unmitigated disaster - going from 5 medals to 0 in the space of a year is not the trajectory we need. Add in unfortunate injuries and poor track positioning and the medal count is seriously depleted.

It's the least important year in the Olympic cycle - and athletics isn't the only sport where GB are off their Olympic best - but let's hope we're in a better position when Beijing rolls around in '27.
