Well, um, the men's tourneys always didn't really matter too much and it's not really something we can massively have big takeaways from. Lots of players turn down opportunities to play in this if they don't want to.

But still

But still, this was, on paper, the best Canadian team assembled since 2015 and that team dominated their tournament.

This team has arguably the 2nd best player in the world, another top 10 player who's one of the all time greats and a young player who seems primed to be one of the faces of a new generation of star players + 3 other players from the 4 nations team including the staring goalie.

I watched the 3rd period and they were outplayed. The score should've been worse.

There's no excuses. It's flat out embarrassing.

Well either way, to say it's not a fun year for Canadian hockey is not enough.

Only golds came from our U18 teams, on the men and women side. 4 Nations was also a great success for us.

Asides from that though, yikes.

World Juniors? Disaster (Never let Dave Cameron coach again)

Women's Worlds? Outcoached in OT

Men's Worlds? Today's all you really need

Well there goes any hope at Olympic gold...

It just hasn't been a good year for hockey in Canada in general really. You have the World Juniors disaster, the Women's Worlds heartbreaker, and the shocking Men's Worlds upset, all of which happened in just this one year.

And top that with the Hockey Canada sexual assault case in the summer and it's just been a gong show for this entire organization.

But idk, sometimes when you hit rock bottom, the only way you can go is up.

Honestly... I'd love to see nothing more than Sweden and Finland playing for gold in Women's hockey. It would be so refreshing and good for the sport

    • I'm also reminded as I know Canadians are painfully aware that if figures hadn't been a part of the 1984 Olympics, then Brian Orser would have won gold.  Hamilton could have finished 4th in the free skate that year and still beat Orser who finished 7th in the figures

    • I would like to see the Summer Games in Italy after long time ago: 1960, especially since the last times we have only had winter editions, but with this political class it will be difficult First of all, such games should serve to promote and strengthen local sport, and we have a problem with that. If I remember good, that, 1960 was a very successful year for us in sports - maybe some normal people were still in power in that time, no idiots, like now?
    • If a credible bid had come across the IOC's radar it would have been awarded by now imo. Which western country is going to submit a good bid and get the games?
