i think france has dechamp to blame.he didnt changed his players position in all 120 minutes.pogba didnt played his natural position and was invisible most of the game.same goes for payet and griezman.

portugal coach outmastered him in tactic

Pogba was invisible all this tournament not just last night:d

congratulations to Portugal. This was the worst EURO ever

It depends on the perspective: in my opinion the 2004 edition was the worst EURO ever hahaha

(actually it wasn't, I had an awesome time with my country organizing it, but the end.... :wall: That made it the worst Euro ever for me :p)

I'm sorry, but having a team with ONE win and the same amount of goals in ordinary time as the ultra defensive Greek champions i 2004 win the EURO, really says something about the Championships :(

Agreed, what a boring, boring final and tournament for that matter. No stand-out matches, no stand-out players beside Griezmann, no new stars, nearly all teams played carefully, because the format allowed it. Only Iceland and Wales brought a surprise note and they would have even with the 16 format. Like i've said before 24 didn't work, but UEFA won't admit it, because they would lose a ton of money, after all that was why the expansion was made for, and because they would actually have to admit they were wrong about something, which will never happen..

For me, it's about time to rethink the concept of group stages. I'm not so worried about the number of teams, but it would not work with the classical group system.

A mathematician, whose name I don't remember, came up with a great idea some years ago. This made it into 3 pots (with the best team in the best pot, the middle teams in the 2nd and of course the worst in the last one) in a system where everybody competes against everybody. This means 1 match against a team from each pot, and then all teams are in the same rankings. This would mean that every single match is important, and every goal the same. Then it could still be with 24 teams without a lot of boring matches, and it could still be possible with the same amount of knock-out matches.

    • Barp and Pellegrino OK today. Graz was in the top 30 until the 8th km, but weakened significantly and now has no points – not good. Carollo's performance today was completely incomprehensible for me, but it's typical for Italians skier in recent years, apart maybe from Pellegrino, sameone can finish 9-10th in one day and then 50th the next day. De Fabiani? I don't think he'll ever return to even a decent level.   Korostelev has probably already received some new vitamins? Maybe Cramer could get us something too for us, to be able to scare Nor more seriously
    • Assuming Bergsma is pre-nominated for the mass-start (place 1 in The Matrix), there are currently 7 names in the matrix.   If everything goes according to expectations, this will grow to 9. In the 1000 metres the favorites are De Boo/Wennemars/Nuijs/Prins and in the 1500 metres the last three riders. It could even be limited to 8, in the unlikely event that van de Bunt qualifies in the 1500. There is precedent there: in 2001 OKT Uytdehaage won the 5000/10.000 metres as an outsider, and also qualified for the mile, as the favorites choked. He was dismissed as a lost opportunity on the very fast Salt Lake City track, but to everyone’s surpise managed to win a silver medal. But from his interview yesterday it’s clear that van de Bunt does not expect to qualify for the games in this event, it’s his ticket to the coming All Round championships (qualification based on 1500/5000 metres times).   But it could get very messy, when 1 or 2 outsiders manage to qualify.

    • The Colorado Springs Athletic Center will be closed to foreigners in 2028 to protect Americans at the Olympic Games Michael Phelps disagrees with the decision   The US Olympic Committee will no longer allow foreign swimmers to use the Colorado Springs Athletic Center, but only in 2028, to protect the interests of American swimmers ahead of the Olympics.   CEO Kevin Ring revealed that there is a rule prohibiting foreign swimmers from entering the high-performance center starting in 2028.   This is due to several reports and complaints received by USA Swimming, highlighting how US coaches are working with foreign swimmers to beat Americans on their home turf, at their own Olympics.   In 2029, after the California Olympics, the doors of the athletic center are expected to reopen to foreigners, but with much higher rates than the current ones ($125/night).   Michael Phelps, who had previously criticized the US Swimming Federation along with Ryan Lochte, has also intervened in the matter.   During the World Championships in Singapore: "What are our real goals? I grew up training with all athletes, including foreigners. We've never discriminated against anyone in our team."   Phelps was coached by Bob Bowman (who recently completed a 24-day training camp with his team, composed primarily of foreign swimmers), and therefore defends his mentor and the team's philosophy.   USA Swimming also emphasized that other high-performance sports centers (such as the one in Flagstaff, Arizona) will have no difficulty hosting training camps for foreign national teams who request them.   The issue of foreign swimmers in the US is becoming very sensitive in light of America's dominance, which has significantly weakened in recent years (recall when in Omaha, during the 2008 and 2012 trials, Dave Salo secretly coached Japan's Kitajima, at different times than the American swimmers on his team).   Is the "America first" philosophy a new form of protectionism in swimming too?   Meanwhile, foreign athletes help colleges win and make money in the NCAA system.   Colorado Springs's view, therefore, seems hypocritical, opportunistic, and arrogant.     from an Italian Swimming blog, related to a Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper's journalist
    • Dutch track championships these days: - Tokyo BMX Olympic champion Niek Kimmann at the start of the sprint event, making a rookie mistake in the 200 metres qualifying, by misjudging the finish line: - Lorena Wiebes winning the Keirin, beating European champion Steffie van der Peet. She has no plans to add this number to her international program, but it shows her immense sprinting abilities.
    • The unanimous opinion is that Leerdam will be nominated for the 1000 metres, apparantly even among the coaches.   As I understand it, this means she will take Kok’s 1000 metres spot in the matrix (place 5), Kok will take the Schulting place (7, but of course she’s allready in through the 500 metres) and Schulting will be relegated to Verkerk’s spot, number 15 and last. This will only be a problem if there are 9 skaters before her, which seems unlikely. Currently there are 7 names in the matrix. If the last two races will go to form, at most 2 names will be added (possibly Rijpma-De Jong in the 1500 metres, and less likely In t Hof or Kerkhoff in the 5000.) Only if the last two both qualify, we will get to 10 names, and then Schulting is out. There is a chance that it will remain at 7 names. That would need for Kok to qualify for the 1500 metres, which seems unlikely where it not for the fact that she owns the track record for that distance. In that case expect Rijpma to be added for the team pursuit and Kerkhoff for the mass start.
