My guess, players are largely based outside the country, or based in the few big cities the government still controls.

Hmm .But is it like its a part of Central Asia now

Afghanistan is still part of SAARC and has not shown any intent of leaving it. So, I doubt if their non-participation is due to they not considering themselves as a South Asian nation.

Broadcast rights were sold to Indian company NK Media. According to Around the Rings broadcasts should be available in all participating nations.

:AFG does not compete anymore.

Wouldn't India be considered a bigger fail? 28 medals all time for the second most populous nation is pretty embarrassing imo.

Why isn’t Afghanistan competing anymore?

We had a conversation about this on the last page I think. Essentially it’s for a number of possible reasons. The most likely reason being that they’ve joined the Central Asian region of the OCA (which is in line with some of the policies they’ve been taking). It could also be the hardship of transporting athletes because of the Taliban, or a lack of funding.

This is equivalent to nothing. A small media from Orissa whose channel is only available in Bhubaneshwar.

Meanwhile only Nepal is participating paragliding so 4 individual cleansweeps  are sure with all 4 athletes from Nepal.

I'd love to watch cricket match between Bhutan and Maldives.

All nations are participating in only Athletics, Shooting, Badminton and Basketball.

A press release from the organizing committee stated that Paragliding has been dropped from the games. Always nice to see countries not taking a free gold medal at every opportunity they get :yes

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
    • FIFA announced the stadium and time for each match   for  Iran, it will be 2 matches in LA (and not just 1) and 1 in Seattle and luckily we avoided playing in Canada. absolutely nothing against the country, but there are just too many douchebag Iranian groups in Vancouver trying to mix everything with their stupid politics. it's better to stay away from them.   that can happen in US too but less likely. playing in LA is more like playing at home, at least I hope so. 2022 Qatar was a disaster from our point of view, hopefully this one remains only about football.
