I do agree that there have been major, major failures in the worldwide anti-doping movement. There is definitely a case that some athletes/countries/teams get preferential treatment, and that is unacceptable. However, that doesn’t excuse what the Russian Federation did either.

If people actually wanted clean sport, there are many reforms that must be put in place to improve the international anti-doping system. The system needs to become more transparent, less nationalized, and more independent.

That's not gonna happen in the days of pro sports where sports IS money., You could sell that crap in the 80s when Stenmark or Wenzel got banned for Olympic Games but not now. Even IAAF dropped the 'Amateur' part of their name for instance before a complete name change.

Comcast basically tells IOC what to do, how do you expect the sport to be more independent? Multi-billionaire companies run the sports every single day. And those private companies will NEVER become more transparent, they will throw the freedom of speech card at you and you're done. Since you're a journalist you should understand how such huge TV corporations work!

The Russian ban is maybe justified but it doesn't justify other nations from being let off the hook. And cheaters like Justin Gatlin being allowed to compete. If Maria Lasitskiene will be ineligible to compete in Tokyo what the FUCK will be Justin Gatlin doing there in first place?

We have different views on most everything, but I absolutely agree with you about this point.

The Russian ban is justified due to the findings of it being systematic from the top of the country, moreover athletes who were not under the fault for drug using could still participate under the Olympic flag.

but alongside this, I completely agree that every other athlete who caught using drug and been charged as guilty, should also been left outside of competition until 2022

Mostly this. Russians getting angry at the outside world instead of at the responsible people for this (aka their government), lol.

there's no chance Russia Neutral Athletes would lose any already won quota after this, right?

no, no chance...unless they get caught with actual positive tests...

I am not familiar with this one? Please elaborate?

it all started with this...

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-8513525/British-2012-Olympians-guinea-pigs-Special-Forces-wonder-drug.html

and despite it might be something not illegal at that time (not even right now, it seems...as many cycling teams -Jumbo Visma on top- openly say that they regularly use ketonics), surely that was an immoral fully state-funded (through the very generous National Lottery fundings) and hidden operation...

and you know, when you feel the need to hide your behaviour, there's a lot to think about it...

that might be only the top of the iceberg...

ok thanks.

There was the small talk in Spain about the chance of Russia losing the right to compete in the Women's Rugby 7s final qualification tournament and maybe Spain taking their place....

    • Yes, the Africa Cup is counted, but I mean the Americup will be removed before the end of the qualification period (1 December 2027). Because the event finished before 1 December 2025.
    • It is already counted. Madagascar has won both men's and women's tournaments.
    • I think the 2025 Africa Cup will be counted in the Olympic ranking because it was played on December 5-7, while ther Americup was played on November 27-30 so it should not be counted, right?   The ranking cut-off is 1 December 2027 and the events of the last 2 years are counted, so I think the Americup 2025 will be cut.
