Well, Romania already lost to Switzerland 71-10 so I’d say their odds aren’t great. My favorites would be Bulgaria and Russia (because Bach is blind to the problem he is creating)

Russia and Spain are problematic choices...

Perhaps Bulgaria will take it... Since it is Herr Bach himself who pushed Sofia to bid

As you say, that was against Switzerland. ;)

I would put my money on Spain, safe choice with experience hosting winter multi-sports events.

Well there is a possibility Kosovo decided to not putting a team, so Spain can host the Games without causing problem.

Event-wise yes they definitely can do that, but ceremony-wise.... ;)

Or Spain grows a set of balls and says "ok, Kosovo is accepted by the IOC, so they can participate here without problems" :p

Apparently this is breaking news. I thought corruption and bribery were standard procedures in IOC? :p

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.

    • Off to Milan for the 145th session of the International Olympic Committee. Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.
