Russian Athletes and Teams pathway to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024

Recommended Posts

Ivan Girev is the only Russian swimmer that's been approved by World Aquatics but doesn't have any OQTs yet.

For Belarus, Shkurdai, Shymanovich and Zmushka all have OQTs and should all be going to Paris.

russian swimming federation prepared a trick. Is there someone from Bosnia?

According to russians - they "organized international tournament for their swimmers", where they can try to get OQT (since domestic tournaments are not allowed). A lot of tops like Efimova are expected to be present.

The tournament is expected to take place in April in Banja-Luka. It is not a FINA tournament. Its status does not require from russians to get neutral status, so they expect to be allowed to take part under their own flag and get qulaification times without application for neutral status from FINA.

Russians expecyed to set a qulaifying time there under their own flags and AFTER that decide whethe to applu for neutral status or not.

But latest FINA`s explanation says: "The only Russian athletes who will be able to qualify for the Paris Olympic Games are those who are registered as Individual Neutral Athletes. Any Individual Neutral Athletes who compete at this event, or other events, would be able to set a qualifying time for Paris"

Thus, the trick looks to be useless

Aryna Sabalenka liked more than 10 posts of Nastassia Mironchyk-Ivanova.

Mironchyk-Ivanova is a supporter of Russia's aggression against Ukraine and a member of illegal "Lukashenko Parliament".

Sabalenka also liked the post about propaganda TV channel "Belarus 5".

The French government are cowards. They could announce no Russian or Belarusian will be given a visa to compete and the IOC will have no right to interfere

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
