Just out of interest what are the 'free' events?

Turns out they're just events you don't need a ticket to watch, road cycling, triathlon, marathon and race walking.

The problem in Italy is that for the past 15 years, aside from Pellegrino, there has been a miss of stability in other athletes: there are some booms of excellent form, but later they disappear. I also worry that funding for cross-country skiing will be cut after the Cortina Olympics.
