I read on this thread that :CAN - :NED went to five sets, but I didn't know the result when I went to watch the highlights on youtube. Luckily you can always figure out who's going to win quickly because they basically only show highlights from the winning team, even in sets where they're down in points.

Well played :CAN ! Our team is honestly doing better than I thought, despite this loss. It's basically a whole new team from a few years back and it's finally starting to feel like there's a new basis to build on with players like Dambrink, Timmerman, Baijens, Knollema, Marring and Reesink.

@CCB do you really think Dambrink is already the best player on the team? I'd say that title still goes to Daalderop. I wish Daalderop was a bit more of a leader in the field though, considering her experience compared to most of her teammates.

Yeah, I really think she is the most important player. I agree she's maybe not the best of the team, but her position (opposite) is the most important! And Dambrink is way better than Celeste Plak and Iris Scholten on that position.

They did better than I thought in the last two weeks of the VNL. But losing to Germany and Dominican Republic (and Canada) was really unnecessary.

If somebody would told me before VNL that Poland will win a group where is 16 best teams in the world I would think that this person isn't normal

But well done girls! I'm hoping that they will play in final and this success give them a confidence that they can qualify to Olympics already in this year :)

It's pretty clear that :POL :CHN :USA :TUR will qualify for semifinals, but watch out for :GER :ITA.

Watch out for :GER indeed. Don't know why, but somehow I think they will reach the final against :USA .

Would be amazing, but I don’t see any indication that it will happen. I think they almost beat Poland during the group stage, but beating Poland and China/Brazil back-to-back would be a huge surprise for this team. I think they are well coached and have some promising players, but I don’t think that they have the quality to consistently perform at the highest level. Not sure what happened with Serbia (maybe they played with their second team?), but Germany wouldn’t have made it past the group stage if Serbia would have been remotely close to their normal level.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

I especially like Hannah Ohrtmann and Lisa Alsmeier. Germany really became stronger last year. Interesting to see if they can qualify for Paris with competition from Dominican Republic, Canada and Netherlands.

Serbia played the first two weeks with their B-squad. But Ojgenovic and the legend Boskovic came back in the third week. But Serbia was still a little shaky.

For me you will win with Poland 3:1 and finish VLN in the semifinal.

    • It's good that Argentina is starting to get back on track economically. Every year, all of our alpine skiing teams train in August in Argentina in Ushuaia: "Fine del Mundo", as it advertises itself.
    • The relation of Trump with Russia and, more specific, with Putin is probably the most controversial (being generous) thing of the presidence of Trump, i dont believe the same but is clearly that China help democrats in that election, both are playing their games.   In Argentina the society is clearly divided, the people who are in the left side of the politics, peronist and kirchnerism are very against the goverment, propably the only genuine "rigth-wing" goverment since the recovery of the democracy in 1983. For me and the most part who are in the rigth wing: libertarians, nacionalist and conservatives, is probably the best goverment we see to this days, he made in his first year with a very few legislators in the congress some big and good changes:   1) In the economical: the inflation is only 3% per month since a more of 15% in the last months of the last year, Argentina has now fiscal, financial and comercial surplus-   2) Our country didnt have fighter planes and the goverment buy 24  American F16  -   3) He chances the electoral sistem for a "single ballot" sistem, we have an obsolete electoral sistem that doesnt change from the 19 century and specially, the peronist use for make fraud.   4) In my personal case, he really update the tax sistem for smal/medium profesionals and traders.......and that save us to pay the 50% of our earnings to the state.   With a big expectations in the goverment, its better than i thinked before.
    • It could be better, or it could be much worse, for example, if the accusations that he has been accepting large amounts of money from Russia since 2017 are confirmed. Now let Harris win, which will end Trump's political career and I hope that in 4 years the Republicans will put up someone more predictable.     btw, how is this controversial president of Argentina doing?
    • More predictable is not always better, for me the goverment of Biden was one of the worst of the History of USA and i cant imagine what can happen with even a worse version like Harris is.   I hope, for the contrary, Trump be elected and "may be" the things changes for the better in the world.
    • I once read that Harris had never been to Europe before 2020, when she became vice president. On the other hand, her foreign policy will be more predictable, because it will be a continuation of Biden's policies. That is why I hope Harris wins, although the bookmakers are betting on Trump.
    • Harris is totally green on foreign policy. It will probably be a policy 100% led by Biden's people. Harris' main campaign emphasis is on abortion and women's rights.
    • So much for "everybody's laughing at us if we elect Harris"
    • My favorite tennis tournaments of the year (wta/atp finals)
    • was also invited to the special edition of the Bolivarian Games and seems like  is not participating.
