Men's Ice Hockey Tournament at the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022

Recommended Posts

A couple of our players had, according to very-brief informations from our federation, positive tests in the previous week...even in a hockey crazy country like the one I live in, it is absolutely impossible to find out which one...it looks like some national secret... need some James Bond help here to find more info

The only we know, is it is not from players from CZE and SVK leagues

(because they are still playing, CZE league has even a full match round schedulled the 2nd February and their clubs refuse to release players before...despite our and Latvian federation daily neverending demands and appeals lol)

and it is not Marek Hrivík neither since the guy was Monday at the Presidential Palace making the Pre-Olympic oath...

so by deductions a la Miss Marple, the positive one(s) should be player(s) from KHL and I can bet that it must be the 2 guys from Dinamo Minsk (Libor Hudáček & Patrik Rybár) since D. Minsk revealed a week ago they had 12 positive cases before their last KHL match...

However if especially those two would not be allowed to go to Beijing...this would be a disaster, losing any name from KHL is already a huge problem for us, but the 2 named guys would be even worse :(

Anyway our federation just briefly stated (Once again it was last weekend), they hope the positive one will have enough negative tests at time to be able to fly to China and if not we will have to call for player(s) from the reserve squad

Lots of changes from the original list. Most of these players are totally unknown, brand new players that China has discovered in the past few days.

(Naturalizing foreign players I get, but making them all change their names is just too funny)

:roflmao:

This just surpassed all my expectations. :CHN:bowdown::lol:

so just a small help to avoid confussions while watching their matches

but do you know what happened to Jake Chelios ? He is not anymore in the list, even if he was basically assured to be there. Injury ? Covid ? or did he decided to retire from the team ? Can not find any info.

This may hurt your team a lot since he was clearly the top name of the team

Oh there is one mistake. Jieke Kailiaosi refers to Jake Chelios. Yuan Junjie refers to Zach Yuen.

First 14 players finally entered the Bratislava bubble today

Goalies: Patrik Rybár (Dinamo Minsk), Matej Tomek (Kometa Brno), Defencemen: Šimon Nemec (HK Nitra), Michal Čajkovský (Sibir Novosibirsk), Samuel Kňažko (Seattle Thunderbirds) and  Forwards: Samuel Takáč (HC Slovan Bratislava), Pavol Regenda (HK Dukla Ingema Michalovce), Adrián Holešinský (HK Nitra), Peter Zuzin (HKM Zvolen), Libor Hudáček (Dinamo Minsk), Tomáš Jurčo (Barys Nur-Sultan), Peter Cehlárik (Avangard Omsk), Marek Hrivík (Torpedo Nižnij Novgorod), Juraj Slafkovský (TPS Turku)

will be joined tomorrow by other 7 players

Defencemen: Mário Grman (HPK Hämeenlinna), Martin Gernát (HC Lausanne), Martin Marinčin (HC Oceláři Třinec) and Forwards: Marko Daňo (HC Oceláři Třinec), Miloš Roman (HC Oceláři Třinec), Michal Krištof (Kometa Brno), Kristián Pospíšil (HC Davos)

All after mandatory PCR testing will go into isolation until the result will be known, then they can start the short training camp in Bratislava from tomorrow until Tuesday. The 21 players will then fly Wednesday from Vienna to Istanbul and then from Istanbul to Beijing.

Sadly 4 remaining players whom their Czech clubs refused to release before the 2nd February (when they have to play the last Czech league round before the Olympic break Goalie: Branislav Konrád (HC Olomouc), Defencemen: Marek Ďaloga (Kometa Brno), Peter Čerešňák (HC Plzeň) and Forward: Miloš Kelemen (BK Mladá Boleslav) will enter the Bratislava bubble only the 2nd February late evening, when the other players will be already in the plane to Beijing :wall: so they will have to pass the PCR testing and isolation and only after a couple of days will be able to travel to Beijing...hopefully they will made it in time until the Monday 7th february...

Because yes our federation made a deal with :GER , both teams will play a friendly (test) match somewhere in Beijing Monday 7th february at 12:45 our Time (19:45 Beijing Time) and from Thursday 10th February the tournament will start

Still not confirmed if the 6 alternates will fly to China with the team or will stay in Slovakia isolated and ready to go replace eventual covid positive or injured player, the final decision will be revealed on uesday, the day before the departure.
