:KAZ Kaz-Brazil-istan also qualified after beating Czech Republic.

playoffs in Europe are also set

:FIN vs :SRB

:CRO vs :CZE

3rd place match in Africa is also a World Cup playoff

:ANG vs :LBA

Finland and Angola have chance for their World Cup debut

in South America, it will be most probably :BRA:ARG:VEN and the winner of :PAR/:COL. if Venezuela qualifies it will be their first time.

while in Asia, they postponed the Asian Championship to an unknown date and it seems nobody knows when !  even though 5 quotas is too much for AFC and Iran is 100% safe to qualify

Our team defeated :BRA 3-1, really impressive. I thought the level had decreased last few years but it seems they still are top form for WC.

Also :PAR and :VEN qualified.

Vietnam national futsal team lose to Spain in friendly

By Duc Dong   August 30, 2021 | 08:02 pm GMT+7

The Vietnam national futsal team lost 0-4 to world No. 1 Spain in a friendly in preparation for the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup in September.

Vietnam's strategy going into the match was to defend and wait for opportunities to counter-attack. However, Spain proved to be too tricky an opponent for Vietnam and soon had the match going their way.

Vietnam found themselves trailing after Borja Diez opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, while the gap was increased to three goals at the half-time whistle. Spain continued to dominate in the second half, with Raul Campos sealing the 4-0 victory for the world number one.

Prior to this match, Vietnam had lost 0-1 to Japan as part of a friendly tournament hosted in Spain to prepare for the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania next month. Vietnam had been scheduled to face Guatemala in the remaining match of the tournament, but a positive Covid-19 case in Guatemala’s camp forced the game to be cancelled. Vietnam still have one friendly with Spanish club Cordoba on Sept. 3 before traveling to Lithuania.

Vietnam made it to the Round of 16 in their first and latest FIFA Futsal World Cup tournament in 2016. The team aim to emulate the achievement this year, though it is definitely a tall order. Vietnam are in group D alongside five-time winners Brazil, Panama and the Czech Republic.

I wonder why FIFA thought Lithuania, who have never even played a futsal euro and are probably the european country least attracted to kicking a ball in general, would be a good host for this event.

The attendance seems to be poor even for the home team.

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
