To be honest i expected this. After all she has won everything and this season i already felt as if she wasn't 100 % motivated anymore. I am glad that she finally retired, now medal decisions will be much more open in the future, while in the past we always had the scenario that anything but a gold medal for Dahlmeier was a huge shock if she was competing at 100 %. It's pretty ironic that the popularity of biathlon in Germany deeply hurts german biathlon for the second time in less than 10 years. Both Neuner and Dahlmeier for sure would have had much longer careers if they wouldnt have earned so much money by such an early age.

I am not surprised as well to see her retire.  She has struggled with her health, and motivation.  The tour will miss her without a doubt.  When she was on it was amazing to watch!  Thank you Laura.  Good luck with your career in the German Border Patrol!

Well yeah, it's definitely no surprise she retires early. Still I'm gonna miss her in the sport, big fan of athletes who are always smiling and fighting to the very end.
