Is Sri Lanka we have a different situation, it's a bit more complicated than a terrorist attack in a western country...

Then we could scrap 30+ nations off the list of being able to have home matches I guess.

Asian preliminary (2nd leg)

Guam  :GUM  5-0  :BHU  Bhutan (agg.5-1)

Bhutan (ranked #186) is the first eliminated from Road to Qatar 2022  :(Not a good achievements, remain the first win after two years (1-0 in first leg).

Today the other matches, except Sri Lanka vs Macau (0-1): FIFA officially cancels the 2nd leg.

The decision was confirmed through a media release by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL). The release stated:

With the official announcement by the Macau FA to FIFA of their decision not to travel to Sri Lanka, FIFA has now officially cancelled the above match which was to be played tomorrow 11 June in Colombo.

Earlier, Macau FA had requested FFSL, FIFA & AFC to play the above match in a neutral venue citing security concerns after Easter Sunday terrorist attacks. However, FFSL stood firm to confirm that Sri Lanka is safe and the special security plans that were put in satisfied both FIFA & AFC

Waiting the FIFA decision, maybe 3-0 awarded at Sri Lanka, and Macau fined and out; or other option the match rescheduled with Macau fined.

It's unfortunate for Macau, players wanted to play, they pressured everyone to allow them a chance to compete. There was a problem about insurance not being put up by their FA, players wanted to play anyway, they didn't let them.

Fun fact! I just drove past the stadium this morning! Also there’s nothing built there yet just a lot of groundwork by the looks of it!

    • How wonderful!   I met the national rowing (and beach rowing) coach of EST/LTU/LAT on the way to ice hockey one day, who's Canadian by the way. I also flew home on the same flight as JC Schoonmaker's mom and friends, so we chatted for a bit.
    • Yea I only used transit besides this Uber / bus to the airport and back. All the venues were at the end of the line, so it allowed you to speak with other fans/volunteers etc. I even met Corrine Stoddard's mom after the first session of short track on the way back, and told her to remember our conversation if she won a medal later in the Olympics. We know how that ended up...
    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
    • I tried to get onto the metro multiple times and gave up    I had just arrived the day of from Bangkok (12 hr flight) and was just exhausted and wanted to sleep
    • Plus, you missed out on a potential metro ride with me, which is quite priceless in my opinion
    • My hotel was very close to Rho so was easy to get there, but it was so far from the hockey venue that after the women's gold medal match it was so expensive to get back, and also the next day after the usa slovakia semis it took forever, the asshole driver took the city and not the freeway
    • Uber cost me $224 CAD to get back to the hotel from the OC. It basically prevented me from buying tickets to a speed skating session
    • Romania's national team coach, Mircea Lucescu, has died half an hour ago He was in hospital since March 30th, just before the friendly match against Slovakia. Unbelievable how the life can have such turns...in March 26th he was in Istanbul playing the WC qualifying play-off vs Turkiye and now he died.    Thank you very much for every moments you bring us in your huge career (he's on 3rd place in a most trophies won in career, after Ferguson and Guardiola) and may your soul rest in peace, Mr. Lucescu.
