I'll let our German expert bitch about the finish!

:POL gets 8th (best WCh team finish ever) and secures the government funding which was the main goal! :yes

Anyone knows if Vincent Geiger is related to Karl Geiger?

It's Vincenz, not Vincent ;) And yes, they are cousins but it's not close kinship.

I'm correcting someone and of course I'm doing it wrong. So typical...

Let's face it, nordic combined is probably the least followed event of the entire FIS World Cup series. It's like luge on skis for Germany so obviously every German pretends to be an expert. There is no discussion available because Netherlands & Poland play zero part in any success in this event (but we're at our best since the early 90s right now thanks to a bunch of ex-ski jumpers who instead of quitting the sport actually switched over to NC). So I speak my mind and I don't follow any majority because I don't read any NC press and there's like ZERO TV coverage for nordic combined in Poland. TVP Sport doesn't even broadcast the NC events here, they have a lenghty ski jumping studio instead ;) However I see that Gruber is still the best skier Austria has and that's enough for me not to call his performances random also given his past success. If Kircheisen did the same you'd be praising the old fox but Gruber? And I don't even care about the usua Germany vs Austria cc beef which probably explains why you dislike Gruber so much :p

That team gold in 2017 made me so happy just because of Kircheisen after literally always missing out on gold :cheer:

Is Nordic combined shown on Polish Eurosport by the way? It is in the Netherlands, although mostly with a Belgian commentator who mostly does cycling normally :p On regular sports websites there's never any news about NC, during the Olympics maybe there's a tiny mention here or there because every final is usually at least mentioned somewhere (even if it's just a result without actual text).

It is but our wonderful commentator can't understand what "wave start" is. It's sad cause he's been commenting NC fom many years.

    • Many things, probably they thought it is already over and the win will come itself... but also Nitra improved their play a lot, they outplayed us in physicality in the last 2 games, they won almost every duel. Was hard to watch. Anyway I am still persuated we will finish the job at home with success on Tuesday
    • If you look at their results this season and on the Super Series, it’s not really that surprising.    I’d consider them to be medal contenders.
    • At one point it seemed we were making good progress in this sport, but in the past 1-2 years things seem to have hit a standstill..   Ivaylo Ivanov is still our only elite judoka, but he is passing 30. There were/are some promising youngsters, but they haven't been able to make a jump to the senior level. At this Euro we barely had any first round wins (not including Ivanov). In fencing and taekwondo the results are much more visible for us.
    • yes, but that's only an (important) episode... I mean, what's up with your team more in general...it looks like they got the classic "fear to win", they're not as brilliant as they were in the early games of the series
    • after a few leagues ended well before the true climax, now we have both leagues from the good, old Czechoslovakia going to game #7    shame that both games will be at the exact same time
    • complete blackout resulting in a 5 minutes major 3 minutes to the end
    • Extraliga Playoffs   The Finals (Best-of-7 Series)   Game #6: HC Kometa Brno (4) - HC Dynamo Pardubice (3)  1-5 (0-1, 0-1, 1-3)   the series is tied 3-3 and also in Czechia we're gonna watch the magic of a game 7...Extraliga does never disappoint its fans    Game #7 is scheduled for Tuesday, April 29th in Pardubice @ 6 p.m. CET
