the most bizarre thing isthat Bahrein had naturalize runners in athletics
shouldn't the Militaries be native & 100% from the nation ??????

In my opinion, soldiers who have been naturalized should not participate. Either this is a show of your country's army or people accidentally drawn.

The US army generally offers a path to citizenship for naturalized service members, green cards for interpreters and other foreigners that help with logistics like that, allies sometimes will be given an offer to get a green card, and people from other NOCs such as :ISV obviously serve in the US military. I think these policies are great. It inspires people to work with the US military and rewards them for their work. So what if we happen to a have a few dozen naturalized Kenyans that run for the army, which gives them a path towards citizenship and the US Olympic Team :p

:USA is sending a delegation of 174 athletes in 14 sports. I don’t believe I know of any athletes on the team.

In my opinion, you are from country X and represent your home country. The matter gets complicated when you are a stateless person (I immediately remembered the movie Terminal) or if you want to take a second citizenship.

Yes, I am aware of that. The winter sports are especially dependent on that funding.

Probabily winter athletes are less dependent than atheltes in sport like swimming or athletics, or all others.

    • Yeah, we have such a strong crop of Juniors, that we can’t take them all. They all have exciting trajectories but to predict what Junior swimmers will is always difficult. Better to let them all swim together at Juniors than rocketing them all up to seniors and swimming a prelim and going home.
    • Hanlon is the most unlucky, in my opinion. Aside from relay cover, she's the 50m champ and they made a point of including consideration for those events being in LA for the other discretionary picks. Essentially she has the same case for selection as Max Morgan (albeit without the trajectory right now).   Blocksidge's form was way off this week (compared to her previous bests). Obviously being still young you could put that down to relative inexperience. Still, she has World and European Juniors that she could still be selected for this summer. There's an argument that performing well at those might be as beneficial as going to Singapore.   That said, I'm happy that they did take a bunch of discretionary picks. That's not always been the case.
