Equestrian FEI Eventing & Driving World Championships 2022

It's a lot like an Opening ceremony at the Olympics. Austrians were the best dressed.

HEavy rain in Rome. It's possible a delay, or dressage goes on anyway?

Dressage should go forward. Usually they stop it only if there is a thunderstorm closeby.

I've been following the live scores only so far.

:FRA Thomas Carlile's result is listed as under review. That is very strange.

I see there has been some complaints about a drone flying over the arena. I wonder if it's anything to do with that?

Christopher Wahler :GER  had a problem with this.

“But then he spooked at something when I tried to get in trot after entering the arena – there was a drone flying up there and I don’t know if it was that or something else, I have no idea, but for some reason I didn’t get the trot

Carlile's score was in the end lowered by 1.2 (highered in terms of penalties), so in fact he received a deduction for some reason.

From what I've read, it seems to be a windy day in Rome area. At some point (before Jarno Verwimp came in for Belgium) the organizers decided to remove flower pots.

Great Britain already dominating as expected, however I don't think it will be such a sweep individually after Day 2. Surely the eventing is the only sport where Brexit alone actually made GB stronger.

Excellent so far for New Zealand and United States. Monica Spencer really did hit one out of the park here. This is her first ever competition outside of Australia and New Zealand, so yeah, it was pretty impossible to compare her form to those in Europe and North America. Oceanian circuit is no joke, and it's always pretty great to see their federations sending some completely new names for the championships and those same names delivering.

Why would Brexit make GB Eventing stronger?

    • Yep. Not sure if it was the NOC or the biathlon federation (I assume the latter) that put him in the Livigno training 'world' with a former Italian biathlete as coach, but they can definitely also be blamed:  almost everyone involved in that shitshow got the motivation just sucked out of them by the methods and shitty atmosphere until they either retired or changed country

    • Lots of injuries, including often just pure bad-luck stuff like a fall from a set of stairs, illness, and of course the Sochi tragedy in 2014: one of her biathlon friends, young Julia Pieper, killed herself with a biathlon rifle early during the Olympics (she wasn't on the team, but was a training partner of both Preuss and Dahlmeier). Obviously a hard hit, which led to terrible Olympics for Preuss, with a DNF, awful results in her other individual races and a relay where she was the first runner for Germany, but fell early on, got snow in her rifle and broke a pole and ended up losing almost 3 minutes, which in turn resulted in Germany being off the podium for the first time ever.   After that came all the injuries and illness and everything. So glad to finally see her have her big individual global gold, that is so well deserved.
    • Dave Ryding's Sixth was the best from a  man since 1934!  We actually have two Women's Golds in the 1930s.
    • first win for the Italian men's relay since 2007      very good Home stage for us   if only the organizers didn't set the finals sessions at 2 p.m. (especially on Saturday), there would have been a lot more spectators on the seats
