Do you know why the (poor) results of Canada from 6th-21st August doesn't count for the World Ranking? I see Canada played against Mexico, Peru, USA, Argentina, Colombia and so on. Results of Puerto Rico, Mexico and other lower ranked teams are counting for the World Ranking. But for Canada, USA, Dominican Republic they don't.

Because of the following rule.

Matches from other annual official events organized by Continental Confederations shall not be considered for the World Ranking if those matches include teams participating in the official FIVB events in the same year. For the avoidance of doubt, matches in the same tournament which do not involve teams who participate in official FIVB events in a given year are eligible for the FIVB World Ranking.

Canada, USA and Dominican Republic played in VNL (FIVB event) this year, therefore their results in annual NORCECA competitions don't count for world ranking purposes.

Well, Netherlands is struggling against France. But wow, the French volleyball team has improved a lot. Cisquel and Cazaute with hammer services. And a very strong defense so far. Nice to see the French team in next year's VNL. That's where they belong.

But Netherlands, Germany and so on also participated in the VNL and now playing their continental tournament, where all the results count for the WRL.

I think annual is the key word. Eurovolley isn't an annual competition.

If for example Netherlands or Germany had also played in european league, their results there wouldn't count for world ranking.

Everyone belongs in VNL, when it's a fair competition of relegation/promotion. But it's not really....

France blowing late set leads against the Netherlands:facepalm:

2-0 for the Dutch, after trailing 19-21 in the first set, and 19-22 in the second set

And eventually our girls somehow won the fourth set coming from 18:23 behind. A 3-1 victory against a surprisingly strong French team. Tomorrow :FIN .
