Pictograms for the 2020 Asian Beach Games:

Who ever designed the Beach Woodball pictogram has clearly never watched Woodball (it’s basically Croquet from what I’ve seen). Besides, that the pictograms are pretty generic. The 3D effect is a nice touch. I’m not the biggest fan of the Sport Climbing pictogram either. Surfing needs a better position too.

No, doesn’t seem so. I’m not the biggest fan of the program this year in all honesty.

They left out one of the female beach wrestling weight classes. Sports Climbing is only done in the Speed Time Trial format. There’s only 4 events in Ju-Jitsu (just drop it at that point). Dragonboat features a bunch of unusual distances. Sailing has mostly youth-only events, and 3x3 is U23 only.

I do actually like the the program outside of that though, so I’ll still find some events to get invested. Honestly, at this point,  it would just be nice to have a multi-sports games this year.

It’s is interesting that the federation who oversees basically the world’s biggest celebration of colonization, has also been most willing to discuss humans rights issues within it’s member states. There was that big UNICEF drive during the Glasgow 2014 OC, and a emphasis on aboriginal culture throughout Gold Coast 2018 (they also gave aborigines a platform during the games). Maybe the IOC should take a few notes from the CGF’s holding of this “issue.”

Why’d you ask? If it’s because you wanted to see it, I might have some goodies.

ooh, 2022 Euro Champs might not be dead just yet. These a four big pickups ups for the event. Canoe Sprint and Table Tennis have been keys sports to the European Games, so this could be a big loss for the EOC. Of course, sports can probably feature at both events.

Not sure if it was the NOC or the biathlon federation (I assume the latter) that put him in the Livigno training 'world' with a former Italian biathlete as coach, but they can definitely also be blamed:  almost everyone involved in that shitshow got the motivation just sucked out of them by the methods and shitty atmosphere until they either retired or changed country

    • Lots of injuries, including often just pure bad-luck stuff like a fall from a set of stairs, illness, and of course the Sochi tragedy in 2014: one of her biathlon friends, young Julia Pieper, killed herself with a biathlon rifle early during the Olympics (she wasn't on the team, but was a training partner of both Preuss and Dahlmeier). Obviously a hard hit, which led to terrible Olympics for Preuss, with a DNF, awful results in her other individual races and a relay where she was the first runner for Germany, but fell early on, got snow in her rifle and broke a pole and ended up losing almost 3 minutes, which in turn resulted in Germany being off the podium for the first time ever.   After that came all the injuries and illness and everything. So glad to finally see her have her big individual global gold, that is so well deserved.
