Yeah,the Lithuanian olympic comitee felt the need to cry about it recently,even though let's be real no Lithuanians would be invited there anyways.

I don't see it lasting to be honest...but, for what its worth, I can see the 'West' turning more and more to Middle East allies to keep their own properties afloat.

Karlsruhe  has applied to host The World Games 2029.

Warner Bros. Discovery will have the European (and maybe some parts of Asia) broadcast rights for next years' summer anf winter World University Games.

Theater will be added to the artistic disciplines, while 3x3 Basketball, Wheelchair Basketball, Breaking, weightlifting, and chess (team) will included as part of the sports program. Judo, Table Tennis, Football (men's team) and athletics (including para events) retain a spot on the program as well.

 

It would appear that basketball (women's team), road cycling, wrestling, and african wrestling have been dropped from the sports program.

 

 not choosing to retain wrestling is a bit of a surprise in my opinion.

I read that the Jr Tae kwon do championships will be held in Mexico mid July and will also serve as qualifiers.

 

Any news regarding other sports?

Are winter sports allowed at the World Games? It would be interesting if they decide to include Ice Stock Sport or Synchronized Skating.
