Lol back to square one. The only reason Hamilton 2026 failed was because the Ontario government wanted to host in 2027 (to avoid overlap with the Soccer World Cup) and now the CGF is okay with it...just lol

I do think it would be preferable if the 2026(2027) event was in Canada if that could be done, if only for the historical 'reset' it allows. Celebrate the Centenary, but emphasise the 'evolution' AWAY from empire games, and away from 'Olympics' clone to something more like a Commonwealth Championships model with more hosts of fewer sports, with a push to host in smaller and newer members appropriate to their size, and an emphasis on indigenous and first nations communities as 'hosts' of the Games - Canada and Australia do this a lot already, but CWG seems a very good place to push this - perhaps the whole queen's Baton lark should end now, replaced with something indigenous and culturally significant to each nation that hosts...

Last (as fas I know) international multi-sports games of the year begin today :(

It's another one of the minor para sports games: https://worldabilitysport.org/world-abilitysport-games/world-abilitysport-games-2023/ (livestreaming available at that website)

The trend of para sport integration at major multi-sports games continues. The FISU will include two para sport competitions for the first time in 2025.

Karlsruhe :GER has emerged as a likely candidate (if not host) for The World Games 2029. It would be the first city to host twice.

Barranquilla confirmed as the 2027 Pan American Games host.

Colombia has failed to pay the first installment to ODEPA. Strong rumors of withdrawal already.

Some say Paraguay has interest in hosting but I think that's very unrealistic.

Wow, quite a few multi-sports games without hosts heading into the next cycle. Hopefully we’ll see a lot of news on that front this year.

It does seem like there’s interest from a few nations in hosting the Pan American Games at least. I still think LA should take it as a test event, but that’s just a selfish and unrealistic desire to have them in my backyard essentially :p (Plus, I wouldn’t wish anymore strain on my local communities anyway.)

I already said this, PAG won't last long. There's just not enough interest to justify the investment. I see a future with only SAG and CACG standing on this side of the world or maybe PAG survives with some form of multiple country hosting.

I think this will go to Sao Paulo. Read some mentioning Miami since pan am sports is there.

    • Many things, probably they thought it is already over and the win will come itself... but also Nitra improved their play a lot, they outplayed us in physicality in the last 2 games, they won almost every duel. Was hard to watch. Anyway I am still persuated we will finish the job at home with success on Tuesday
    • If you look at their results this season and on the Super Series, it’s not really that surprising.    I’d consider them to be medal contenders.
    • At one point it seemed we were making good progress in this sport, but in the past 1-2 years things seem to have hit a standstill..   Ivaylo Ivanov is still our only elite judoka, but he is passing 30. There were/are some promising youngsters, but they haven't been able to make a jump to the senior level. At this Euro we barely had any first round wins (not including Ivanov). In fencing and taekwondo the results are much more visible for us.
    • yes, but that's only an (important) episode... I mean, what's up with your team more in general...it looks like they got the classic "fear to win", they're not as brilliant as they were in the early games of the series
    • after a few leagues ended well before the true climax, now we have both leagues from the good, old Czechoslovakia going to game #7    shame that both games will be at the exact same time
    • complete blackout resulting in a 5 minutes major 3 minutes to the end

    • what a missed chance for     but Giorgia Stangherlin first and Asya Tavano then (in the playoff match, having clearly won the "regular" match against the same opponent) wasted the biggest occasion we ever had in this kind of competition   moreover, in the final match of the "regular 6", Veronica Toniolo got a serious knee injury against Eteri Liparteliani (the match was into the golden score period): she was carted off on a stretcher, screaming in pain
