We must have an OK account to see these videos?

On the other hand, i wonder what happened with Olympic Channel.

I had it installed on my Android but today i encountered notification only about Tokyo 2020 app.

Everything else is absent.

Does anyone know what happened with OC?

They’re also revamping/creating a new app during this period, which I believe they plan to drop in time for Tokyo 2020.

I didnt see your post from May 2nd. :(

Thanks for the reply.

Maybe you could give me an advice.

Whats the best way to see those full replays from Rio, Beijing and other OGs?

I checked their site and its rather confusing, with plenty of cookies banners and so on. Is there any link for those replays?

Thanks in advance.

No problem. There are two fairly good ways to find full session/event replays.

The first option is using the menu at this link: https://olympics.com/en/olympic-games/olympic-videos

The second is to click on this link, and scroll down to the section titled “relive past games.” Click on the Games you wish to see replays for, and then select the “replays/highlights” option when taken to a second page. Link: https://olympics.com/en/olympic-games

I will say that I’ve had a lot of trouble/difficultly with the website recently. Sometimes to the menus don’t work, or the replays don’t show up, or some videos have disappeared, search function doesn’t work, etc. I haven’t been to upset/down about it because this is a new UI and website, so there was bound to issues. I’m just hopeful that they’re still learning from and fixing problems they run into along the way.

Didn’t know this story, but I came across it last week reading a book about Nazi Germany. Did you know that there used to be an official Olympic Salute that was often used on ceremonial occasions?  What happened to it? Well, at the two 1936 Olympics there was a certain amount of confusion because……:red:

Both actually derived from the same source, which you can see in this famous 1784 painting.

Yes, this was covered on one of the series of QI when Stephen Fry was still the host.

  • 4 weeks later...

Just watched the two Rio 2016 documentaries available on the Olympic Channel.

Days of Truce, like some previous official Olympics films, is a traditional recollection of the Games, focusing on a few athletes and the impact of the event on locals. While this documentary doesn't bring great filmmaking by any means, I thought it was successful in showing the good and bad side of Rio 2016 - and also made me remember the thrill of those days, including some events which I've attended. Like one of the brazilian athletes says in the film, this is not gonna happen again in our country (at least not in our lifetimes), so I feel privileged to have experienced it.

Viva, a in-depth look about the Opening Ceremony, it's a much better documentary IMO. Shorter than the official film, it's a fascinaning movie for people who are interested about the process of conceiving and executing an Olympic ceremony. It was particularly interesting to know that some of the things we saw were decided a few days before the Opening. Kudos to the creative team who made a great ceremony given all the challenges.

Enjoyable, well-made documentary about the “youth and urban” sport’s path to the Olympics.

Has anyone seen 'First' (London 2012 Official Film)?

I just did, and it is astonishingly bad! Around 95% of the film is in slow-motion for no reason.

    • Traitor is a nice way to describe him, really the only explanation for his actions (because I'm going to naively believe he is not actually dumb) is that he is a foreign agent and not even really hiding it, at all
    • Not too familiar with this sport, but do the same athletes compete in boulder and lead?
    • At 6 teams there should be no a rule a minimum 3 continents should be represented
    • Excellent suggestion & perhaps the most logical one. I think IOC & ICC will approve on a similar format.  I would just tweak it a little bit.  I won’t give a guaranteed host quota but allot 2 quotas in Americas-Africa qualifying tournament.  Also Europe will have 1 fixed quota from their qualifying tournament.  So , it will be    1 - 2016 T20 world champions 2&3 - Asian qualifying tournament  4&5 - Americas-Africa qualifying tournament 6- European qualifying tournament
    • OMG, Trump seriously fights with showers
    • This is going a very tricky decision for the ICC. You can't really use the current world rankings because ranking points will be won or lost against teams that are not eligible for the Olympics. I think that any country who fails to qualify because will launch an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and probably win.   So here's what I suggest for the six.   1 Possible host country place - USA - but only possible - what you do is recalculate the ICC rankings and take out all points gained against non-Olympic teams. Then once you done this and taken out non-Olympic countries like West Indies and either England and Scotland then if the USA are in a high enough ranking position they qualify. This position could be as high as 10th or as low as 20th depending on how important the IOC and ICC see their presence in LA. (I'm assuming that, like in curling and women's soccer Great Britain would nominate either England or Scotland as their official qualifying representatives) USA are currently 18th   2 2026 World T20 champions   3 and 4 Asia-Pacific qualifying tournament winners and runners-up   5 and 6 Euro-Africa-Americas qualifying tournament winners and runners-up   (7) If the USA don't meet the qualifying standard then a play off between the 3rd place teams in the 2 above categories decides the final qualifiers   The qualifying tournament would be held under IOC eligibility rules not the ICC rules
    • Because of Wimbeldon I thought Tennis was moving to the second week anyway? Not sure it will have quite as good attendance starting just a week after Wimbledon ends. (Assuming its finals are the 8th and 9th July).
    • With only 6 spots, don't think there is space for Continental qualifiers and Host quota. I would have 2026 World Cup Winner. Three qualifiers (these can be semi-continental with some continents merged) with 1 spot each. Rest 2 to rankings.
    • Finally some common sense. IOC decides to put all 3 disciplines in programme for LA28.    So now, we will see Speed, Lead and Boulder separate, with quota of 38 athletes per gender all together.
    • GSOC Players Championships, ATP Monte Carlo Masters, FIVB Elite 16 Saquarema, and the remaining Canucks/Warriors games (as usual)   No Speedo Canadian Open/Diving WC/WA Continental Tour Botswana due to scheduling conflicts.
